Glances At The Art World

  • LONDON (UK)

Thirty works are enough to transform yet another temporary exhibition at the leading modern art gallery into a mega artistic event and blockbuster. And not without reason, when it comes to some of Frínta Kálo’s most emblematic works, which reveal aspects of her personality such as the devoted wife, the intellectual, the modern artist and the political activist, alongside precious clothes, jewelry, photographs, personal memorabilia and rare archival material. At the same time, over 200 works by her contemporaries and others from later generations who were inspired by the transformative power of her life and work, honor and highlight the lasting impact and global appeal of the Mexican artist and her unique story.

As a highlight of the exhibition organized in collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 200 more commercial objects that encompass her art, image, style and persona, make up the piece “Fridamania”, highlighting that beyond one of the most influential figures of all time, the fearless and revolutionary Kálo is a cultural phenomenon and an internationally recognized commercial icon.
