Masterpieces from Buckingham Palace

The exhibition “Masterpieces from Buckingham Palace” brings together some of the most important paintings in the Royal Collection from the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace. Usually on public view during the annual Summer Opening of the Palace, the paintings will be shown in The Queen’s Gallery while Reservicing works are carried out to protect the historic building for future generations. Artists represented in the exhibition include Titian, Guercio, Guido Reni, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Rubens, Jan Steen, Claude, and Canaletto.

More than 500,000 Germans fled Nazi Germany. The new Museum of Exile, created by a new institution, will tell the story of anti-Nazi Germans, and will open in 2025 next to the ruins of an old station (Anhalter Bahnhof).  Dorte Mandrup has won the international competition to design the new Exile museum in Berlin.

Ernst Barlach on the 150th Anniversary of his Birth

The German Expressionist sculptor, engraver and letter writer Ernst Barlach is presented at the Albertinum Museum in Dresden, where he is honoured for the 150th birthday of his birth. His importance as a sculptor is due primarily to his wood sculptures. At the same time, however, this versatile artist also worked in various other media: as well as producing drawings and prints, Barlach was the author of numerous plays and prose works, and an expressive letter writer.
