Ulf Kristersson, Prime Minister of Sweden, and Zelensky announced at a joint press conference that Sweden and Ukraine have signed a “letter of intent,” a semi-binding document that states the will of both countries for a specific purpose, namely the purchase of 100 to 150 JAS 39 E Gripen aircraft from Ukraine.
The Swedish Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a multi-role supersonic fighter and the “E” is its latest version. Sweden uses it, of course, but also Hungary, Brazil, and South Africa. It is a fairly capable aircraft, although from time to time there has been much criticism regarding its flight costs and various mechanical problems.
The oddities of the Kristersson – Zelensky agreement are enough. First of all, the reference in the “letter of intent” for 100 to 150 aircraft is strange, since from 100 to 150 there is a 50% difference! And if you calculate that each aircraft will cost about 85 million dollars at least, then you understand that the agreement is revealed as particularly rough!
The second strange thing is how Ukraine, heavily indebted, decimated, will manage to cover the cost of purchasing even 100 JAS 39 E Gripen, that is, about 8.5 billion dollars just for the aircraft, not to mention support infrastructure, training, etc.
But the strangest thing of all is that Sweden, probably cannot respond to such an order! And it certainly cannot respond before the collapse of the front.
At the moment these lines are being written, the Swedish Air Force has only 3 JAS 39 E Gripen in operational readiness for its own needs out of a fleet of 60!!!
In detail, the Swedish Air Force has:
- 71 JAS 39C
- 23 JAS 39D
- 3(60) JAS 39E
That is, a total of 120 JAS C/D/E aircraft and it has another 120 JAS 39E in production plans.
In the plans… Therefore, in order to cover the agreement with Ukraine, it will have to abandon the upgrade of its own air force with the (in the plans) 120 JAS 39E and make them available to Ukraine. But if it does so, how will it protect itself in the upcoming Russian attack on the West?
The deal is therefore another psyop operation for European citizens. To slowly get used to the idea of “organized” support for Zelensky’s Ukraine, even if the planes will remain in plans and on paper and the order will mainly be fodder for photo shoots, smiles, and anti-Russian propaganda.
Perhaps a small number of Swedish Saab JAS 39 Gripen will be delivered [we very much doubt whether they will be of the JAS 39E series] to give an extension to the photo shoots and publications. But in general we believe that Ukraine will receive 100 Gripens, is as true as that Saddam Hussein had secret chemical weapons bases.
The European Union, the governments of Europe in general, have become entangled in a vicious circle of lies and anti-Russian hysteria that will be a fatal loop for Europe.
The historian of the future will record this era as the problematic of European history.
