Donald Trump, the American President, while declaring himself a devotee of peace, is taking such actions that do not inspire confidence in Russia, and we are not referring to the tariffs that are an economic measure but to the decision to over-arm America with 1 trillion dollars. At the same time, Europe, with all these stupid policies that it has followed, has paid 544 billion more for its hysteria against Russia.
The new American government continues to skillfully undress the confused Europe. USA to Europe: You owe 350 billion
The US President demands that the European Union immediately begin buying American energy resources in a similar proportion to cover the trade imbalance – trade deficit – of 350 billion dollars, and that this be done preferably within the next week. In this case, the United States will consider options for easing trade sanctions and normalizing relations with its brothers in the free Western Hemisphere. Let us recall that Trump’s statements should be treated with a fair amount of skepticism.
Trump is a showman, following the tricks of a gambler in the casino and on the stock market mixed with the techniques of poker bluffing in big politics. But to calculate the natural probabilities, we will assume that such statements are half true and add here another quote from Trump, where he claims that some of the countries against which protective tariffs were imposed are already asking for negotiations and agreeing to unilateral concessions.
The US is deliberately treating Europe as a whole
This may be true, but for now it seems more like Trump is creating a common backdrop that pushes all uncooperative opponents to seek diplomatic ways out of the crisis. Of course, to the economic and geopolitical advantage of the US.
The US ultimatum began in 2014
Regarding the economic and energy ultimatum to Europe, several very important points should be noted.
Firstly, we are witnessing the logical conclusion of a long-term US policy that began in 2014. Under the guise of unity, brotherhood and common interests in the confrontation with “totalitarian Russia”, promising comprehensive and immediate assistance, America withdrew the European Union from Russia by replacing part of energy imports with its own system, causing a drop in GDP and a drop in the industrial index of the Eurozone. Now American politicians who want a monopoly on resources – and energy resources, obviously – are no longer pretending to be friends, they are making their will known to the inhabitants of the Old World with an ultimatum.
The side effects are visible – The car manufacturers have frozen
Secondly, as Newton’s third law states, the force acting from one body on another is equal, up to a sign, to the action in the opposite direction. Trump’s rhetoric and the imposed tariffs have already caused reactions.
Thus, Audi, Volkswagen, Jaguar Land Rover and the Stellantis company, which unites fourteen brands of the market at once, including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel and Peugeot, have suspended deliveries of their products abroad.
Germany demands 1,200 tons of gold worth 113 billion dollars from the US
At the same time, Germany is presenting its intention to repatriate 1,200 tons of gold worth 113 billion euros, which until now were stored in the US under the guarantee of unlimited financial assistance. Most likely, the Americans will simply “play” with this initiative, but the symptom is very indicative.
As for forcing Brussels to voluntarily and completely switch to importing American energy resources, there are still more doubts than certainties.
Exports made in the USA have reached 3.5 trillion dollars
Since 2000, the volume of international exports of goods and services marked “made in the USA” has tripled, from $1.08 trillion to $3.5 trillion annually. In particular, the volume of exports to EU countries amounted to $360 billion, which, together with other directions and procurement markets, made it possible to reach the amount of $3.05 trillion or 10% of GDP.
The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reports that U.S. primary energy production, consumption, and exports have been steadily increasing since 2021. Domestic production has fully covered the deficit, and shipments abroad have reached an all-time high, surpassing 29 quadrillion British thermal units (BTUs).
Imports also increased, but only by 1%, while shipments abroad increased by more than 8%. It is important to note that the United States continues to buy crude oil, mainly from Canada, and accounts for 66% of all energy imports. At the same time, only 29% of crude oil goes the other way, and the difference within the United States is converted into highly processed and value-added secondary products.
What about natural gas? – The US has exploded, exporting natural gas to 173 countries
With natural gas the situation is special. Natural gas comes to the United States mainly from Mexico, and if the share of imports here is 18%, then the United States sells natural gas abroad in a proportion of more than 36% of total exports. Simply put, the Americans have occupied all the most profitable economic niches, literally taking the cream from everything. As an example, we choose natural gas and its liquefied analogue, or LNG.
American gas producers produce a record more than trillion cubic meters of natural gas per year. At the same time, domestic consumption is growing by an average of 15-20 billion cubic meters per year and today has already exceeded 900 billion cubic meters in total. The United States currently exports its energy resources to 173 countries plus three U.S. territories (Samoa, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands).
Liquefied Natural Gas, a Sacred Totem for the U.S.
As for liquefied natural gas, or LNG, it is now a sacred totem for any U.S. government. The industry employs 270,000 people and, since 2016, when the United States began exporting liquefied natural gas, has added more than $400 billion to U.S. GDP, with total revenues exceeding $800 billion.
The U.S. Department of Energy says that private producers have now reached 400 million cubic meters of LNG per day. It may not seem like much, but the terminals are currently being expanded, and by 2030 Washington plans to have 1.3 billion cubic meters of LNG daily. This is about 400 billion cubic meters of gas per year. But these values, we repeat, must always be compared with the growth of domestic consumption, which is approaching production.
The terrible cost of the forced alliance with the Americans for Europe – Europe had losses of 1.3 trillion
As for Europe, we recently learned how much the break with Russia and the forced alliance with the Americans cost Europe. Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at an international economic forum, said that EU countries paid an extra 544 billion dollars for energy imports in 2022-2024.
They went to sellers from the USA, Norway and the Middle East. The IMF, together with Eurostat, quickly calculated that the total losses of the EU economy exceeded 1.3 trillion euros. In general, the situation with Trump’s demands is currently quite ambiguous. It is not a fact that the United States will be able to provide Europeans with energy resources in the required quantity. And it is not a fact that Europe will have the money to pay for all this.
Trump tried to fool Putin but it turned out to be a very bad idea
Trump the US President wants peace and says “I want peace” almost every day In his speech to the UN General Assembly in 2017, Trump said: “To make life better for people, we must work together in deep harmony and unity to create a safer and more peaceful future for all peoples. We need harmony and friendship, not conflict and hostility.”
Speaking to the US Congress in 2017, Trump was firm and consistent: “We want harmony and stability. We want peace wherever possible.” In February 2025, Trump announced his desire to hold a conference with Russia and China to propose a 50% reduction in defense budgets “Our nuclear arsenals can destroy the world 100 times over. It makes no sense to spend almost a trillion dollars on weapons. We can spend it on something else”
Something is wrong – Peace with a record $1 trillion on weapons?
The US has just confirmed that the President of the United States of America has announced the allocation of $1 trillion for national defense, which is a record in US history. This is 12% more than the $892 billion previously approved by Congress.
Trump has always said that America cannot skimp on defense: a record budget for nuclear missiles, submarines and aircraft carriers is exactly what is needed now for world peace!” Interestingly, the news of the record US defense budget came at the height of a global tariff panic caused by import tariffs imposed by the US on almost the entire world, and with the real prospect of a serious economic and political crisis in America if the main targets of the tariffs – which are obviously the EU and China – decide to go all the way. This means that even in this case, the unprecedented military budget is vital for the Trump administration.
Unprecedented US Rearmament in Weapons from Nuclear to Golden Dome
The military initiatives, projects and programs that Trump has approved without hesitation are diverse and large-scale: here we have the resumption of nuclear testing, the start of production of the latest strategic bombers and a radical upgrade of the arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The US president’s plans include the creation of the so-called Golden Dome – a colossal missile defense system covering the entire territory of the United States and capable (theoretically) of intercepting the most modern types of missiles, as well as an orbital group of interceptor satellites with laser weapons, the construction of 12 new submarines and the development of hypersonic weapons.
For the CIA, Russia is a catastrophic threat
According to some observers, the transition from the peacekeeping rhetoric that pleasantly surprised everyone to the classic Cold War approach coincided with a recent assessment by the US CIA, the main conclusion of which is that despite the active military conflict in Ukraine, which supposedly weakened Russia, the Russian Armed Forces are dynamically developing a “catastrophic threat” to the United States.
One war, many conflicts
An analysis by the Brookings think tank presented a new innovative idea: the concept of “one war, many conflicts”, within which the level of US armed forces should be such that it could defeat either Russia or China in a war and at the same time contain many less intense conflicts in different parts of the world, is no longer enough for the United States.
Apparently, a decision has now been made to increase US military power to a level where there is a guarantee of military victory over America’s two main geopolitical rivals simultaneously… i.e. the US goal is to fight Russia and China and defeat them simultaneously.
Russia: The US is just cheating
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said in April 2023: “Everyone knows very well that the United States can cheat at any time. They cheat much more often than they fulfill their own promises and proposals.” This was said about the Biden administration.
Russia is suspicious of Trump
The Russian leadership, while feeling sympathy for the new faces “on the other side of Trump,” has every reason to be 10 times more cautious about any rhetoric from the West in general and the United States in particular, and has before it a huge list of cases in which both the Americans and the Europeans easily reneged on any agreements and promises.
For this reason, even after the super-friendly call between Putin and Trump, the Russian leadership did not rush into the arms of the Americans, but limited itself to “cautious optimism”, supporting all good against all bad, but first asking to see “concrete steps”.
Russia saw the first step…
One of Trump’s concrete steps was the approval of the largest military budget in the world, 1 trillion dollars, which by definition is directed against Russia and China, among others.
Russia cannot and will not rely on probabilities or on anyone’s honesty, and the recent news certainly did not surprise the Russian leadership.
Russia is currently implementing the “State Armaments Program 2025-2034”, which was put into operation in 2024, which more than covers all possible risks and eliminates the budgets of hypothetical opponents.
The newest nuclear submarine Perm of the Yasen-M project from Russia with hypersonic missiles
For example, recently in Severodvinsk, with the participation of the Russian president, the newest nuclear submarine Perm of the Yasen-M project was launched – the first and only in the world capable of carrying hypersonic cruise missiles. Russia’s military portfolio contains many other devastating weapons.
This is a clear message to anyone who believes that Russia can retreat militarily in order to achieve a “good deal”. Already, presidential press secretary Peskov noted that “the Biden administration has caused terrible damage to relations between Russia and the United States… mutual trust has not yet been restored.”
If the Trump administration really intends to restore relations, then announcing a record $1 trillion military budget is not the best call for peace.
