Six new multi-role ships for the British Navy

The British Navy is modernizing and investing, among other things, in building 6 new multi-role amphibious ships.

The new ships will belong to the new MRSS (Multi Role Support Ships) class, and will carry Marine forces as well as vehicles, helicopters and smaller vessels. They will also be able to operate to receive the wounded, in humanitarian missions, as general support, etc.

The six new ships are expected to have been delivered to the Royal Navy early next decade, replacing the two Albion-class amphibious warfare ships, as well as the 3 Bay-class amphibious assault ships and the large general support RFA Argus. At the moment the final design is not given but the vessels will be built in Britain, and their displacement will be in the order of 20,000+ tons.
