Euroarmy: Plans for interventions in “unruly” EU member countries

The idea of a European army, which reappears with particular intensity in the latest discussions of European politicians, is not new. Trump’s statement about not providing military assistance to NATO member states that do not pay the required resources of more than 2% of GDP opened the relevant debate again.

The debate was intensified by the stern warning of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, that the EU cannot defend Europe. But what is hidden behind the idea of creating the Euro army and how could it affect the sovereignty of the member states?

Any possible joint European forces could be financed from the EU budget and overseen by the European Parliament, Czech MEP Mikulas Peksa explained. “So we don’t have to worry about whether there is a majority for 2% of GDP in 30 different parliaments,” the MEP said. “The subject of the European army is an old one and started to appear in the political sphere since 1954 with the famous CED (European Defense Community).

Euroarmy and its ardent supporters

Much has changed since then and we must now raise the question of the “necessary architecture of a European continental security system,” said Colonel Jacques Hogard, who served 26 years in the French army in the special forces and the airborne brigade of the Foreign Legion. The idea of a European army has been repeatedly discussed by EU politicians.

In early November 2018, French President Emmanuel Macron called for the creation of what he called a “true European army”, which he said would protect the Union’s interests. The proposal was supported by then German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

During her tenure as Germany’s defense minister, Ursula Von der Leyen also supported the idea of a Euroarmy, adding, however, that national governments should remain responsible for their armies.
He also underlined in February 2018 that an “army of Europeans” should not be a challenge to NATO, but “remain transatlantic”. However, we should bear in mind who would lead the joint forces and what ideology a hypothetical Euro Army would defend.

Euro army for interventions inside the EU and against unruly states

The Brussels technocracy is absolutely cynical to create a force, a sort of supranational police force, that can be used for domestic political purposes within the EU.

French politician Florian Philippot, from the Patriots party, a former MEP, who revealed to X on February 12: “An EU army would first and foremost be an army used against European peoples who would like to disengage from the EU: Absolute danger!” Besides, there are not a few political experts who believe that the Euro Army in the near future can be used to suppress internal disputes within the EU.

Any military formation under the auspices of the EU will not meet the dominant needs of the member states but is likely to reinforce the already existing US and NATO control in the Old Continent.

Of course, the European Union, until now completely subjugated by the United States of America and its armed wing, NATO, is today under their influence. Hence this pathetic “Russophobia”, which he thinks is a means of creating unity! Strategic mistake.

Donald Trump’s victory could pave the way for the liberation of Europe from the dictates of the US and the unelected leadership of the EU and NATO.
