In Crimea, a Ukrainian missile killed Russian Navy Officers

“Senior” Russian naval officers are among the “dozens” killed in an attack on the Black Sea headquarters. Kiev said it carried out a missile attack on a target in the Crimean port of Sevastopol during a “meeting of the leadership of the Russian Navy”.

Ukraine announced on Saturday, September 23, that dozens, including senior Russian naval commanders, were killed or injured when a missile hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the Crimean port of Sevastopol a day earlier.

“The details of the attack will be revealed as soon as possible, but the result is dozens of dead and injured, including senior commanders of the Russian fleet,” the Ukrainian military said.

Kiev announced that the strike took place when “the leadership of the Russian Navy was meeting”. The head of Kiev’s intelligence service, Kirill Budanov, claimed the attack killed “at least nine people”.

Budanov declined to say whether Western-made missiles were used in the attack. Russia, for its part, announced that one of its soldiers was missing after the attack.

The Ukrainians reportedly even knew the time of the Russian Officers’ meeting and struck early morning cruise missiles against the Russian Fleet headquarters, exposing Russia’s entire air defense system.
