Missile “storm” across Ukraine: Target energy in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipro

Today, in Ukraine, the Russians launched a new wave of missile attacks on energy infrastructure. According to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzny, 76 missiles were fired into Ukraine, of which 60 were shot down.

Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat added that today, for the first time, the Russians attacked long-range Tu-95 bombers that took off from the Engels base near Saratov (where a drone strike recently exploded).

The media published videos of rocket attacks in Ukraine from the window of a plane flying through Moldova. The video shows at least four large plumes of smoke rising from the explosions.

Strikes were confirmed in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Krivoy Rog and many other settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Zaporizhia.

Three energy facilities were hit in Kyiv. According to mayor Vitaly Klitschko, explosions were recorded in the districts of Goloshievsky, Dneprovsky and Desiansky. The authorities of the capital announced interruptions in mobile communications and the Internet. Fixed light, water and heat issues. At the same time, Klitschko promised that full electricity and water supply to Kyiv should be restored by about tomorrow morning.

The same situation in the Dnieper. According to the local public, more than half of the city’s residents were left without water. Mayor Boris Filatov urged people to stock up on water. Queues for gas stations formed in the city.

10 rockets hit the Kharkiv region, governor Oleg Sinegubov said. Critical infrastructure was damaged. Kharkiv is completely disabled, where, as the authorities said, there is a colossal destruction of infrastructure facilities, there is no light, heat and water.

In all three regional centers – Kyiv, Dnipro and Kharkiv – the metro and other electric transport stopped. Trains will not run in the capital until the end of today – there is not enough capacity in the energy system. Despite this, there are a lot of people in the subway – city dwellers try to catch the Internet there.

In Krivoy Rog, a rocket or its fragments hit a residential building, killing two people. Also, the energy facility was completely destroyed in the city.

A special situation prevails in Zaporizhia, where the authorities have confirmed 15 strikes. Apparently, this is due to the fact that shorter-range Russian missile systems reach the city, which hit from a closer range and are therefore more difficult to shoot down.
