The Concern about Climate change is Wrong

In general, global warming and CO2 emissions are beneficial. But before we get to why this is the case, it is vital to understand why accepting the false climate claim is so harmful.

When climate policies are proven to be destructive, the answer is that those policies are nevertheless necessary to address what Biden refers to as the “existential threat” of global warming and increased CO2 emissions.

When it is pointed out that these climate policies will reduce temperatures and CO2 emissions at most minutely and insignificantly, climate policy proxies push for even more draconian policies.

The result is that since the 1990s, climate policies have become increasingly destructive and wasteful. Worse, their continued intensification seems unlikely to stop until the public and policymakers are convinced that global warming and CO2 emissions are not harmful. (please also read the analysis titled “Climate Change is Due to the Action of the Sun and Not to Carbon Dioxide Emissions“)

Global warming saves lives

Analyzes of millions of deaths over the past decades in several countries, published in the British medical journal The Lancet, show that cooler temperatures killed nine times (July 2021 study) to seventeen times (May 2015 study) more people than warmer ones. temperatures. The recent moderate increase in global temperature (1.00 degrees Celsius on average since 1880, as estimated by NASA) has therefore saved millions of lives.

CO2 emissions do not pollute and on the contrary are environmentally beneficial

In 2017, over 300 scientists, including MIT’s Richard Lindzen and Princeton’s William Happer, signed a statement making this comment: “Carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. On the contrary, there is clear evidence that increased atmospheric “Carbon dioxide is environmentally beneficial to food crops and other plants that nourish all life. It’s food for plants, not poison.” Each of us, indeed, also exhales carbon dioxide with each breath.

Since 1920, deaths each year from natural disasters have fallen by over 90 percent

This has happened, as data from EM-DAT (https://www.emdat.be/) – The International Disaster Database presented by the University of Oxford shows, not only as the planet has warmed, but also as the world’s population has quadrupled.

Global warming has not increased hurricanes

A NOAA report, updated on November 28, 2022 (https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/national/202211), states that “there is virtually no long-term trend in the number of hurricanes. The evidence for an increasing trend is even weaker when we look at hurricanes making landfall in the U.S., which actually have a slight downward trend beginning in 1900 or the late 1800s”.

The same report summarizes in bold: “We conclude that historical Atlantic hurricane data at this stage do not provide convincing evidence for a significant century-scale increase caused by greenhouse warming: in the frequency of tropical storms, of hurricanes or major hurricanes or the percentage of hurricanes that become major hurricanes”.

Global warming also does not increase the area burned by wildfires

As environmental statistician Bjorn Lomberg showed using data from the Journal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Remote Sensing of Environment, and Earth’s Future, the percentage of the world’s land burned per year between 1905 and 2021 declined (https://scholar.google.gr/scholar?q=Journal+of+Geophysical+Research:+Biogeosciences,+Remote+Sensing+of+Environment,+and+Earth%27s+Future,&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart).

Sea levels are rising – but only by a tiny fraction of an inch each year

An EPA report updated on August 1, 2022, (https://www.epa.gov/airmarkets/2022-key-program-dates) states: “When averaged over all the world’s oceans, absolute sea level has risen at an average rate of 0.06 inches per year from 1880 to 2013.” including a slightly increased rate since 1993 of “0.12 to 0.14 inches per year”.

The UN climate models used by Joe Biden, John Kerry and other climate doomsayers to predict future global temperatures are so speculative and unreliable that they could not even reproduce 20th century temperature changes. That’s a key point in the must-read book by Obama Department of Energy undersecretary for science Steven Koonin, Unsettled: What Climate Science Tells Us, What It Doesn’t, and Why It Matters.

These kinds of facts should convince the public and policy makers to stop accepting the false claim that global warming and CO2 emissions are harmful.

When this false claim is no longer widely accepted, policymakers will stop pushing climate policies that particularly impoverish the world’s poor.

They will stop organizing international meetings like COP27 that require massive climate-related foreign aid programs. They will stop spending hundreds of billions of dollars on domestic climate sinks.

And they will stop using supposed “social cost of carbon” factors (even though the actual social cost of carbon is zero) to regulatory limit domestic production, transportation and use of fossil fuels.
