We have to be very careful about what is being done in Ukraine with the deployment of Russian Forces in Kherson, because the Russians did not hold a referendum in Kherson to leave it.
Because we have an organized withdrawal of Russian forces from an area which according to the Russians and according to the Ukrainians is very vulnerable (…) there are some big dams in the area and the Ukrainians are hitting them, so there is a fear that if these dams are broken dams, the entire wider area will be flooded. Consequently, large Russian forces will be trapped west of the river, considering that the bridges have also been hit.
it should be understood that, at this moment, the Russians also consider the new administration, that is, General Surovikin, to want to economize on their forces. They have built three fortified positions East of the Dnieper River. In a few words, we have an organized retreat of the Russians to positions which are much safer than the ones we have now occupied for the continuation of operations.
In other words, they will probably overwinter in the specific areas and make it very difficult for the Ukrainian army to cross the area east of the Dnieper river. That is the one issue, secondly, obviously the Ukrainians if they go out to these areas, because as you know there is no information, Ukraine is very cautious at the moment, because they don’t know if it is for the eyes of the world to retreat after all and whatever. So we will see in the next few days exactly how the situation will develop.
And what will happen once the Ukrainians have entered Kherson, apart from the moral and political part of the case. So what we can say for sure is that Russia is moving forces and reducing the width of the front line and moving its troops to fortified positions. Obviously, the Ukrainians want this specific area back which is of great political importance because of course there is also the city of Kherson, but we should take into account that it is a very vulnerable area from a military point of view and there is always the risk of entrapping the Forces that are there and of course as can be understood unfortunately it is not the end of this project, which we have been experiencing since last February until today. The whole story is not over, that is, the Russians did not hold a referendum in Kherson to leave the capital of the region to the Ukrainians.
It’s clear things for anyone who knows history and knows and has some opinion about the military history and the region and how the Russians operate and how all this history all this folding is done. We understand that it is not yet something that at the military level will change the course of the struggle, but of course it is the political message, although and as long as the Ukrainians fully understand Kherson. Also, what role will the outcome of the American elections play in the Ukrainian crisis and what is happening with natural gas.
