Years ago, to the surprise of many, on the side of the climate change deniers was the British scientist Piers Corbyn, an expert in climate predictions. But he is also the brother of the former leader of the Labor Party! Placed on the Left in general, he disagreed with his brother on the climate. Corbyn denies the supposed “scientific consensus” on human responsibility for climate change and stands for something else entirely. He insists the media, the UK Met Office and many “corrupt scientists” are trying to brainwash public opinion as part of a “Qatar-led conspiracy to keep oil prices high”.
Corbyn also strongly criticized Margaret Thatcher who had accepted that global warming was caused by the human factor and had then started overfunding research centers dealing with the environment and the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions. Of course, Thatcher then aimed to close the coal mines and crush the strike of the workers in them. But it caused the environmental movement to grow. She has since confessed her mistake. But the damage was done. The monster of hundreds of relevant research centers had been created. And they fight for the prevalence of their views and conclusions so that they can perpetuate themselves.
Elsewhere, of course, we see the Left clashing with the supporters of reversing climate change. Recently we had the conflict between the government of communist China and the young Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
Thunberg called on the Chinese to stop using chopsticks for food because it destroys trees. According to reports, which Reuters has denied, the Chinese advised her to go back to school because bamboo is a plant and not a tree. In fact, she should stop using toilet paper because that’s how forests are destroyed!! That is, the Left against the Left!! With whatever that might mean…
Corbin insists that man’s role in the climate is insignificant and that the rise in temperature, like the cold in other cases, comes from the movements of the Sun. In fact, in 2009 he participated in the International Conference on Climate Change organized by the Heartland Institute. A research center, that is, that expresses deep skepticism about climate change theories through a bunch of studies it has published.
Among other things, Corbyn had taken part in the English Channel 4 television production “The Great Global Warming Swindle” (“The great fraud of climate change”) which had caused a lot of noise and a lot of reaction. Many even accused him at the time of not having special academic qualifications for the climate issue. In a special BBC Radio 4 program there was a stir in 2015 because as a guest he had strongly criticized the Meteorological Institute without mentioning the famous “scientific consensus” on climate change of the UN, which he disputes. And in 2019 he called Greta Thunberg “an illiterate brainwashed child”.
