After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, only one third of the world’s population has sided with Ukraine. Specifically the USA, the United Kingdom and the EU, with the exception of Viktor Orban’s Hungary. Of the world’s population giants, India maintains an ambivalent stance, while China, Pakistan and Brazil support Vladimir Putin’s Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Third world countries, as well as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, remain neutral in this battle. A large percentage of friends of Russia or neutral countries believe that Russia is the continuation of the anti-imperialist Soviet Union and in general the enemy of the former colonialists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of the United Nations countries that voted on the Ukraine issue last March, 35 member states abstained. These include half of the 54 African states. Since the “orange revolution”, Ukraine has shown the dislike of the majority for Moscow’s elected President, Viktor Yanukovych, who fled to Russia in persecution. As that revolution did not show Ukraine’s readiness to acquire genuine democratic institutions and escape corruption, the Russian President’s references to the country’s fascist regime are linked to the Ukrainians’ hatred of Russian sovereignty and the famine caused by the coup of Ukrainian land by Stalin causing millions to die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is certain that Ukraine’s current resistance to the Russian aggression is now creating unity – social and national – in a fragmented country of the past. The corrupt regime of the Russian oligarchs and Patriarch Kirill and the Russian secret services is leading the Ukrainians to the cleansing and rebirth of their own country. Zaporizhia is reminiscent of the Cossack war tradition narrated by Nikolai Gogol in the novel “taras bulba”. How can Vladimir Putin oppose the arguments of de-Nazism to a country that he inadvertently purifies himself with the torment he imposes on them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ukraine was not born as a Socialist Republic of the Soviet Union, as Russian President Vladimir Putin claims, but it is born every day today with a war that Ukraine is not pursuing. To get back to where it was before the war, Ukraine will need half a trillion dollars so far. Certainly much of this money and funds will come from Russia’s frozen funds abroad. But the war united all Ukrainians, whether they are Russian-speaking, Tatars, Jewishes, Ukrainian Orthodox or Catholic, into a single nation that is reborn without anesthesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The biggest victims of the war today are the Russian-speakers who the Russian President claims came to save him from the genocide. Donbas and Mariupol and their civilian population are being decimated, they are the ones for whose sake the war of Vladimir Putin took place. Let this reality become better known to both the Chinese and the Indians, but also to all the neutral countries of the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
