For the “cynical” analysts of international security, this was almost to be expected, as the reality imposed by global geography pushes in this direction, although there was indeed the possibility of a new security architecture in Europe, which would include Russia. .

One would expect that the lessons learned from the revelation of Soviet secret service archives during the Cold War had been thoroughly assimilated by the West. He should have realized the role of the luck factor that nuclear arsenals did not bring the end of humanity, at least in the form we know it today.

The West and the USSR during the Cold War

Both the US and the USSR then treated nuclear power differently. Although both feared the destructiveness of strategic arsenals, they viewed the equation differently. The West did not realize that the Soviets, in their dogma and in their business plans, believed that if things went to the use of nuclear weapons, they could prevail, in fact, survive longer.

It also turned out that the Western debate on “nuclear deterrence”, although of excellent quality at the level of “civilian strategists”, could never decode the Soviet perspective.

On the contrary, from the moment it developed publicly and influenced the formation of nuclear doctrines, it gave the Soviets an advantage. The USSR knew much more about American thought than Americans did about Soviet thought. This allowed the USSR to plan surprises for the Western camp in the event of a nuclear war, which in the West were considered unthinkable. At the same time, always based on what the records have shown, the Soviets could more easily press the button.

Today’s data

Instability today is enormous and this is largely due to the technological advancement of the West in weapons technologies. But not in those associated with mass destruction, that is, at the strategic level. A recent example is hypersonic weapons.

Russia and China today seem to be technologically ahead of the Americans. How wise is the uncontrolled pressure on Russia on the Ukrainian front, where Washington does not seem interested in a ceasefire agreement? Probably the opposite is true.

Maybe it should have already been put on the table how rational it turns out e.g. the decision of the United States to abandon in 2002 the 1972 agreement banning the development of defense weapons in space (ABM Treaty); Because the abandonment of that agreement led to polyphony.

Given the situation in Ukraine, with Vladimir Putin preparing, according to the news, to warn the West “about the fate of the world”, everything begins and reminds of what during the Cold War the strategic debate had called a “window of vulnerability” (window of vulnerability). Precisely because of the certainty – and the signatory – that it is only a matter of time before the US covers the distance, has this “window” today opened dangerously and is directly threatening the immeasurable West?

The today Power Politics

It is a wonder that these thoughts do not seem to be considered by the Western military staffs, although lately there are indications that the American Strategic Command is concerned about the strategic balance. And this applies not only to Russia, but also to China, which is following developments with particular interest, apparently to incorporate lessons into its own strategy (eg the Taiwan front).

So, this is something that we will find in front of us in any case, even if the war in Ukraine ends, one way or another. The window of strategic vulnerability will open more and more for the West, the closer it brings Russia to economic disaster with “dollar armament” and massive economic sanctions. Hence the Western attempt to destabilize Russia internally.

And this modern “nuclear” weapon (financial sanctions), however, if not used wisely and providing an honest way out for the adversary from the conflict, will have consequences. This is another rule of strategy that is being brutally violated today. In the long run, slowly but gradually, it will undermine the role of the dollar in the world.

After all, beyond the American and European continents, it is difficult to find countries that have accepted the western position of “good-bad”, “black and white”. More than half the world does not follow Washington’s orders. If in the US they think that they will gradually build a world that will accept the American monarchy, they are making a colossal mistake that is also pushing full speed towards destruction.

It is this choice that leads humanity to the well-known hegemonic conflicts of centuries, to “power politics”, whose parameter is clearly economic power. But when the imbalance in the technological, economic, and ultimately conventional military field escalates, unfortunately the only level at which the adversary can balance is that of nuclear weapons.

In the US, however, Joe Biden’s presidency does not seem to be holding the wheel very firmly. This allows for the uncontrolled unfolding of the agenda of a Democratic Party wing, which seems willing to take an unacceptably high, to unreasonable, risk of achieving ideological goals, especially when no American blood is shed. So out of safety. So at least they seem to believe.

At the same time, European leaders are simply watching and aligning in panic with Washington’s choices. The ideologies of many decades and the devaluation of military power have stuck the EU in military non-existence, much less prevented it from strategic US autonomy. This situation was fueled by infecting societies with utopian theories by the well-fed and comfortable European intelligentsia, not excluding the Greek one.

The forecasts are not optimistic. Theoretically, there would be a way out of the impasse. It may be a theoretical construct, but let us ask ourselves the following: What if there was a US-led leadership with a real concern for world balance that would respect Russia’s legitimate national interests and be respected in the Kremlin?

If there is one key conclusion that the war in Ukraine could lead to a spiral of uncontrollable escalation is that the West is…

[3,826
3457,58,3458,3369,70
post-8364","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-geopolitical","category-usa-geopolitical","tag-nuclear-arsenals","tag-russia","tag-strategic-balances","tag-ukraine-russia-war","tag-usa
["GET
