The new set up as a company Raytheon and United Technologies will focus its activities on the aerospace industry.

Based on the information that was seen in the form and in the electronic press respectively, the obvious benefits are:

1. Drastically reduce the operating costs of the new created company that in the highest possible scale will reach up to the amount of $1 billion.

2. The combined annual turnover of the new company is expected to reach around $74 billion.

3. Both companies at current market value reach an amount of $166 billion.

4. It’s a merger among equals.

5. The largest percentage in the new company will be in the possess of UTC.

by Thanos S. Chonthrogiannis-https://www.liberalglobe.com

Raytheon Company

Raytheon is a company that offers specialized cybersecurity solutions and produces
all types of missile defense systems (Raytheon Missile Systems) for each type
of mission. It is known to
produce many missile systems e.g. BGΜ-109 Tomahawk cruise missile, AIM-120 AMRAAM
air-to-air missile, Phalanx CIWS naval anti-missile defense system, FGM-148
Javelin anti-tank missile, MIM-104 Patriot surface-to-air missile and many
others.

United Technologies Corporation

It’s an industrial conglomerate. The most well-known subsidiaries of the
companies are the Collins Aerospace and the Pratt & Whitney. UTC supplies
the manufacturers of commercial aircraft with telecommunication and electronic
equipment.

The Pratt & Whitney manufactures gas turbines for industrial and power
generators as well as Marine turbines and competes with the other two major
companies in the field the Rolls-Royce and General Electric. It also
manufactures aircraft engines for civil and military aviation used for example
in the new stealth multi-roll fighter F-35.

Merge for example

UTC is an industrial conglomerate. To focus its activities exclusively on the aerospace industry will separate the activities of its two subsidiary companies unrelated to the aerospace. More specifically, the companies Otis (elevators, escalators, moving walkways) and Carrier (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration Systems, fire safety, Security, Building Automation) will become separate corporate entities and will be disconnected from UTC.

Raytheon and United Technologies
the logo of the new company

This merger of the two companies is an example to be emulated because:

1. Since UTC is under the control of various activities in the aerospace industry which require different actions and capabilities in specific administrative functions such as R&D, in engineering, in the production process, in sales etc.

The only way to further deepen its existing activities and at the same time to acquire the highest level of expertise in areas that do not possess them, was a one-way merger with a company such as Raytheon Company, rather than to develop itself technologically in these areas of Raytheon activities.

2. This merger is also complementary because the main areas of activity of Raytheon (missiles system and cybersecurity Solutions) are unknown in conglomerate activities of UTC.

3. Drastic cuts are being achieved in the cost and expenditure strand in the newly created company ($1 billion), which will be used to further invest in the R&D of the new company, operating as a horizontal merger type.

4. The new company that will be created will act as conglomerate in the aerospace industry, covering all types of engineering and more.

5. This merger sets the carpet for a subsequent merger over the next ten years, including the new company Raytheon Technologies and an aircraft and/or ship manufacturer.

In this case, a global giant will be created in the Aerospace industry that will offer a wide range of products, e.g. covering needs from fighter and civilian aircraft to integrated air defense systems of the entire country. In this case, it may be the world’s first largest company in aerospace.

Thanos S.
