Exhibitions that all interested art lovers are required to know. Art is a huge mosaic spanning from prehistory to the present day. It accompanies man from the beginning of his existence because it is that creative expression that in the artwork captures the mental state, emotions, ideas, and visualization of the artist and will always be important in human life because of the magnetism it causes to human emotions by stimulating them.

HONG-KONG (CHINA)

Exhibition: Demian Herst: His Own Worst Enemy

White Cube Hong Kong is pleased to present ‘His Own Worst Enemy’, an exhibition by Damien Hirst. On view in Asia for the first time, sculptures from Hirst’s acclaimed series ‘Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable’ feature alongside a new series of paintings titled ‘The Revelations’, produced in 2021.

‘Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable’, a project that Hirst developed over ten years, is based on the fictional discovery of an ancient shipwreck. Realised through a large suite of sculptures, drawings and other ephemera, all created in an extraordinary array of techniques and materials, the series weaves fantasy and historical references to expose the myth and mutability of history, belief systems and art itself. Five major sculptures from the series are featured in the exhibition.

November 24, 2021 – January 8, 2022

San Diego (USA)

Exhibition: Masters of Photography: The Garner Collection

Emphasizing iconic images by some of the most famous photographers from the 20th century to the present, this exhibition presents a broad sampling from the substantial holdings of local collectors Cam and Wanda Garner. This group of pictures, diverse in subject, style, photographic medium, and chronology, presents an occasion to reflect on photography’s role in history and society, and to consider its future trajectory.

The exhibition is grouped thematically into three sections. The first, Reflections on Nature, presents a variety of landscapes, including work by the acclaimed Ansel Adams and Minor White, and organic aesthetics. Things as They Are analyzes documents of the city, society, and conflict with familiar examples from Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke-White, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. The final section, Manipulating Reality, looks at expressions of abstraction and allegory in the medium from early 20th-century work by Frank Eugene and Manuel Álvarez Bravo, to the contemporary cinematic dreamscapes of Gregory Crewdson. The San Diego Museum of Art.

November 20, 2021 – February 21, 2022

PARIS (FRANCE-EU)

Exhibition: Signac Collector

Over the last fifteen years, the collection has renewed interest and is the source of numerous studies, exhibitions and publications. In this context, the Signac collection is a real case of a textbook because it reflects the vision and prejudices of an artist very active in the art scene of his time. The collaboration with the Signac archives, which keep, in addition to the artist’s correspondence, the notebooks in which he recorded his purchases, makes possible the exact list of paintings, drawings and prints that belonged to him.
Self-taught, Signac learned his profession by looking at the works of the Impressionists, especially those of Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Gustave Caillebotte or Armand Guillaumin, most of which appear in his collection. His first acquisition is a landscape by Paul Cézanne.

Hailing from a wealthy family without being wealthy, Signac may be considering collecting important projects, but his choices must be taken into account. From the beginning, his role in founding and then organizing the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, of which he became president in 1908, placed him at the crossroads of various avant-garde trends. If he often prefers the works of his neo-Impressionist friends, Georges Serra, Camille Pizarro, Maximilian Lous or Henri-Edmond Cross in particular, he is also interested in those of Nabis, Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard, Ker-Xavier. Roussel, Maurice Denis and Félix Vallotton. Musée d Orsay,

Until February 13, 2022

On this page of our website, we will present the most interesting exhibitions in our opinion that take place in the specific week in…

[1209,1188,1157
3192,2131,3106,1353,2939,3193
post-7116","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-exhibitions","category-arts","category-culture","tag-demian-herst","tag-exhibition","tag-glances-at-the-art-world","tag-hong-kong-2","tag-paris","tag-san-diego
["GET
