The fall of left-wing forces in Europe is mirrored in the seats it holds in the European Parliament. In the 2014 European elections it held 53 seats out of a total of 751 seats. In the corresponding elections in 2019 he won only 39 seats out of a total of 705 seats.

Supporters of Left-wing ideology in Europe rallied until January 2021 under the title “European United Left/Nordic Green Left-GUE/NGL”. From January 2021 it changed to a title and became “Party of the European Left”.

by Thanos S. At the same time, EU societies have never forgiven the representatives of left-wing ideology for their lukewarm positions on the great problem of migration in Europe.

The fact that they did not respond to the influx of more than 1000000 refugees into the heart of the EU has turned part of these societies into supporting and politically promoting the far right in Europe.

In addition, a component of the worldview of the Left-Wing parties has defined as its opponent 1% of the population, i.e., the wealthy capitalists and the top executives of large corporations.

In this component, a senior employee with a salary of €7000 a month is not a class enemy of the worker and can live together in a fair productive model. At the same time, however, the Left-Wing parties consider that the institution of private enterprises which acquire a large size during their business life are links to a mechanism for exploiting the worker in them and should be limited by a strict regulatory framework and heavy taxation.

But the Left-Wing escapes that good-paying jobs are only provided to large companies where the number of their employees exceeds two hundred and fifty. Since a government or strong opposition of the parties of the Left respectively stands hostile to all these large enterprises essentially condemns to unemployment much of the middle class working in these enterprises.

In addition to its Left, meritocracy and relative job security exist only in the economies of large enterprises that are also competitive on the international market.

That is why political parties interested in the productive middle class include multinational companies in their design. The fact that the Left, because it does not include these large enterprises, is one of the reasons why it is falling in percentages in EU societies.

Today, the efforts of the Left-wing parties in the political field find an embankment in the competition between the centre-right and the Liberals, but also the competition between the Socialists and the Greens.

The European Left, both as a party and as an ideology, has been following a general decline in EU societies in recent years.
