The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday, January 8, 2020, that the military parade held at the end of the party’s eighth historic Congress presented a new advanced weapons system including two missiles that had never been presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new weapons systems<\/u><\/strong><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first and foremost weapon system reported by the KCNA is a submarine-launched ballistic missile \u2013 “the most powerful weapon in the world”. If this is the case, North Korea acquires the incredibly important strategic ability to launch a ballistic missile (carrying a nuclear warhead) from anywhere on the planet, without detection, providing it with a major effective nuclear deterrent for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question is that North Korea has not conducted a Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) test since 2019. On the other hand, South Korea’s Seoul-based Yophap news agency said the South Korean military issued a simple statement saying they were analyzing the military items seen at the parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But based on the information provided in November by South Korea’s National Intelligence Service to South Korean lawmakers, North Korea’s attack submarines are diesel-powered and electric-powered Project633 of the former USSR, (twenty in number) but can hit ships, but not launch ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second weapon system presented by North Korea was a short-range missile.
