Medical and pharmaceutical research-science worldwide has given a titanic speed marathon from the beginning of 2020 to date to manage in record time to offer at least four vaccines for direct use to humanity, managing to hit the pandemic before it eliminates most of the already existing deaths it has caused (1.5m deaths worldwide).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the questions about vaccines remain since none of them have demonstrated in practice that not only does it not transmit the virus but also that it does not restrict the transmission of Covid-19. Without further a doubt it can be ignored that it is not shown what the duration of istity offered by each of these vaccines is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem, however, is that the inhabitants of poor countries will most likely not have access to these vaccines. The most affluent states on the planet have committed 53% of the doses according to a complaint by the Popular Alliance for Vaccines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Popular Alliance for Vaccines includes many organisations including Amnesty International, Frontline Aids, Global Justice Now and Oxfam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This complaint came after the US, EU, UK, Norway, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, Brazil, and Australia rejected a proposal by India and South Africa to the World Trade Organisation to abolish intellectual property rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the proposal by India and South Africa was to provide universal access to the vaccine and innovative treatments from all the countries of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU replied that the copyright of vaccines does not constitute an obstacle to access to medicines for Covid-19. But the funding of research into the development of vaccines was made from taxpayers’ money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moderna received $2.5bn in funding for vaccine research and pre-sale in the US. Pfizer received $455m from Germany and another $6bn from pre-sales of vaccines in the US and EU. AstraZeneca received more than $2bn from the EU and US for research and pre-sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem is solved by the abolition of manufacturing monopolies in both the developed and developing worlds, while granting authorization to manufacture generic medicines in all countries of the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
