On November 11, 2020, the Japanese Naval Self-Defense Forces unveiled its new acquisition, the Kawasaki P-1 naval patrol and anti-submarine warplane. The Japanese Naval Self-Defense Forces already has five such aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These aircraft are modern four-engine and were developed by the Kawasaki Heavy Industries consortium replacing the American-made P-3 Orion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These P-1 aircraft were designed from the beginning as submarine and naval cooperation hunters. It has a higher speed, range and payload than the corresponding American P-3 Orion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its technology is entirely of Japanese origin. Its equipment includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Active phase array radar (AESA) Toshiba HPS-10G covering 360 degrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Powerful tracking cameras with day and infrared imaging for surface targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Torpedoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Sea Bottom bombs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Ship missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Air bombs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Arms control system from Smith Aerospace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Multiple radar meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
