You cannot defeat a civilization-state by expending a buffer state. You can only learn, slowly and amidst ruin, that punishment is not a war plan, a narrative is not accounting, and your supposed superiority is not merely a matter of weather\u2014it is an era. And eras change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Russia is fighting the war that actually exists. The West continues to fund the war it practiced for\u2014and lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The West would have possessed the best army had the prize been awarded in 1991. Modern warfare is not a photograph of an aircraft carrier; it is about ammunition magazines, factories, air defense, repairs, maintenance, and who can outlast the adversary in the military supply chain. In this test, Russia is not merely a gas station with nukes, as Western strategists had calculated. It is the only major power that has been waging an industrial war for some time\u2014and is getting better at it with each passing day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The West built a disposable force, lacking significant stockpiles, and a political class unable to tolerate casualties. Yet, a serious campaign depletes reserves. This has already happened to NATO\u2019s stockpiles in the context of the Ukraine conflict, without a single NATO division even being on the front line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Russia does not need to capture Berlin. It only needs to win the war on its own doorstep against an enemy that believed its own myth. The myth of the “exhausted Russian army” is dead. The West\u2019s decline, however, is no myth; modern warfare is about outlasting a peer adversary through production capacity and the ability to endure pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The West sold the public a fantasy war. Russia trained for the real one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most humiliating aspect of the war for the West is not that Russia has failed to collapse; it is that forty flags failed to bring about that collapse. More than forty ministries of defense, the world\u2019s wealthiest treasuries, Patriots, HIMARS, Leopards, Abrams, and F-16s were reduced to scrap metal, yet the front line did not break as NATO briefings had promised. This is no mystery; rather, it is an autopsy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Western power was suited to the theatrical productions of the last century\u2014characterized by short wars, air superiority treated as dogma, boutique munitions, pristine runways far from the front, and compliant media. That power was engineered to project decisiveness on television. It was not built to outlast a continental army that treats industrial capacity and the grind of attrition as the true essence of warfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arsenal of “democracy” proved to be little more than a subscription service for a narrative. When the narrative collapses, the myth confronts reality.
