But that has changed. Gold leasing platforms are booming and wealthy individuals are lining up to turn their gold into a passive income tool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investors are not just waiting for gold to reach $5,000 an ounce, they want a return here and now. And gold leasing provides it. And given that investors want to hold gold, regardless of the price. Leasing is the next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How does the \u201cgold carry trade\u201d work?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The process is similar to a loan \u2014 except that the loan is made in ounces of gold, not in cash:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The investor delivers the bars to the platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The platform lends them to jewelers, wholesalers, and manufacturers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The jewelers use the gold in production.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the end of the period, they either return the same amount of gold or renew the lease.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The investor earns interest in gold, not in dollars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For borrowers, the benefit is enormous: they don\u2019t have to take out a bank loan, nor worry about price fluctuations.
