In fact, the Russian media, with their revealing reports, not only confirm that the mercenaries from Russia arrived in Caracas on the Ilyushin 76 transport, but they go overboard, emphasizing that they arrived with powerful Pantsir and Buk-type weapon systems.

Mysterious Ilyushin brought… Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2E to Caracas

The mysterious Russian Il-76, which made a long and complicated journey through several countries, seems to have delivered a powerful argument to Caracas in the tense dialogue with Washington, according to Russian media. According to some sources, it was carrying elements of modern air defense systems, which were urgently sent to Venezuela to demonstrate Moscow’s steadfast support for its ally in the face of a possible escalation.

The Il-76TD that landed in Venezuela belongs to the Aviakon Zitotrans company. Interestingly, this company has been on the US sanctions list since January 2023 for transporting aircraft for Wagner PMC and the Russian military-industrial complex.

The secret route of the “Wagner transporter”

According to some reports, the plane departed from Russia on October 22 and made a long journey, following a complex route through Armenia, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, and Mauritania. All this was done to avoid NATO airspace and keep the cargo secret.

And this is where things get interesting. Western media has been at a loss for days about the purpose of this visit. However, according to information from “insiders”, it seems that components of advanced air defense systems—the Pantsir-S1 and Buk-M2E—may have been on board.

Following reports of a possible escalation between Caracas and Washington, it seems the Kremlin has convinced the Russian president that it was necessary to “support the ally,” even at the alleged cost of weakening its own air defenses. Moscow, sources claim, is making it clear with this move: it is ready to compete with Washington for influence in the Caribbean region.

The “big picture” and Russia’s strategic role in Latin America

Thus, this… “visit” fits perfectly into the overall picture. As a reminder, Putin recently ratified a strategic cooperation agreement with Venezuela, which entered into force after being approved by parliament. The parties agreed to work together to counter unilateral sanctions and build an independent financial infrastructure. Significantly, this is the third such agreement, after those with North Korea and Iran.

Russia seeks to replace the USSR as the main security guarantor for countries under pressure from the US, the EU, the UK, Japan and others. At the same time, countries such as China, India and Brazil are being pushed to become Moscow’s clients.

Russia’s economy is not large enough to be a world power, but militarily and politically, Moscow clearly controls the global agenda, and countries with large economies cannot ignore this. Military specialists and air defense assets will not fundamentally change the balance in the region, but they will create the conditions for exerting pressure on the United States, which Moscow needs in numerous situations around the world.

Moscow is shaping a situation where it is becoming the main player on the planet, using not only its existing military-political potential, but also its already declared readiness to use force.”

The Ilyushin sent a message to the entire West!

The mysterious flight of the Il-76 to Caracas thus turned out to be a multi-layered political message. Despite questions about the feasibility of supplying air defense systems to an already well-defended region, this gesture goes far beyond the simple military supply chain.

Moscow is consistently building a global network of strategic partnerships, and Venezuela is emerging as a focal point of this network in the Western Hemisphere. Even if the actual cargo is spare parts or new weapons, the main message is addressed to Washington: Russia is ready to challenge American hegemony in its own backyard and acts as a security guarantor for those under pressure from the United States.

And this is because, on October 26, a Russian Il-76 transport aircraft with an unknown cargo landed in the Venezuelan capital. However, as American media emphasize, the famous Ilyushin 76 is known for the extensive transport of Russian mercenary groups, especially in cases of specialized, secret missions.

The Ilyushin of special missions and the traces of Wagner in Venezuela

The Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft, known for its connection with “difficult” missions, took off on October 22 from Moscow. During the route, it made stops in Yerevan, Algiers, Rabat, Dakar and Nouakchott.

It is noteworthy that this airline is already under sanctions for transporting cargo on behalf of Wagner, as well as for transporting weapons and ammunition to Venezuela and Africa.

The… strange itinerary of the Russian Ilyushin Il-76 and the scenarios of chaos

The Russian military transport aircraft type Il-76TD, belonging to Aviakon Zitotrans, landed in Venezuela, causing an orgy of rumors about the cargo and the objectives of its arrival in Latin America.

According to FlightRadar24 data, the aircraft took off from Russia on October 22 and followed a route with multiple stops in Armenia, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal and Mauritania before reaching its final destination in South America.

Washington had accused the airline of collaborating with the Russian defense industry and transporting military equipment, including cargo to Venezuela. The Moscow-Caracas cooperation appears to concern economic agreements and does not imply military assistance in the event of a Venezuela-US conflict, emphasizing that this relationship differs significantly from Russia’s close strategic connection with North Korea.

Nevertheless, the Kremlin’s actions, as well as the Ilyushin’s capabilities, suggest two possible scenarios:

Delivery of weapons systems: Transfer of weapons of any type from Russia and Africa to Venezuela. The Il-76 can carry up to 50 tons, a load sufficient for light weapons shipments.

Delivery of mercenaries: The use of mercenaries associated with the former Wagner group. Moreover, this Russian-made aircraft can carry 100–200 people.

If the American invasion finally takes place and the Russian supply concerns manpower, the US will find itself facing Wagner fighters who have gained combat experience in Africa, Syria and Ukraine, and are equipped with FPV drones (first-person view drones).

It is worth noting that the Il-76 transport aircraft cannot carry a full array of heavy weapons, such as the S-400, which would require multiple flights. Of course, “Putin may also be sending a few thousand Russian babushkas to Venezuela, we don’t know,” American media outlets emphasize – a phrase that underlines the veil of mystery surrounding the exact cargo and Russia’s goals in the current phase of tensions between the Trump and Maduro governments…

A powerful Russian missile is the… reason why the US is hesitant to attack Venezuela

Despite the threats and provocative stance of the American leadership, Washington has not yet attacked Venezuela, fearing a powerful attack from Russian air-launched missiles, as reported by the American publication The War Zone (TWZ), publishing a detailed investigation.

The resulting target missile acquired by the US Navy was known as the MA-31 – based on the Kh-31A, but without the seeker, warhead or radio altimeter (according to other sources, with an American radio altimeter) – for simulating hypersonic missiles during tests of anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems, as well as for practicing countering hypersonic missile attacks by air defense/missile defense crews.

The target missile flew in a low-altitude orbit to simulate anti-ship missiles, and in a high-altitude orbit to simulate anti-radar missiles. Consequently, US admirals are very familiar with the nature of these Russian munitions. The US Navy operating off the coast of Venezuela takes this threat very seriously.”

Chaos is breaking out in Venezuela, amid threats from the Trump administration for an armed invasion of the country, as – as BN first…

[831,3
655,7509,3790,58,70,1915,2431,7510
post-26641","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-america-geopolitical-issues","category-geopolitical","tag-donald-trump","tag-ilyushin-76","tag-mercenaries","tag-russia","tag-usa","tag-venezuela","tag-wagner","tag-wanger-mercenaries
["GET
