In an interview with CNN at an event hosted by the right-wing Sanseito party in Tokyo, Kirk said he sees similarities between the political movements in Japan and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited to see that there\u2019s a growing political movement here in Japan that\u2019s fighting for the same things we believe in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kirk said he\u2019s learned through his recent travels that Japan is facing mass immigration issues \u201csimilar to the dynamics\u201d seen in France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked how he would respond to critics who call his ideas xenophobic, Kirk said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI laugh, but I mean, everything is rooted in love: love of country, love of people, and even my biggest critics would agree that if you put 30 million foreigners in Japan, Japan would no longer be Japan. That\u2019s not xenophobia, that\u2019s common sense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
