In practice, however, racism exists in US political life.

The stigma of racism that the election of the 44th US President Barack Obama (2009-2017) and the first Black President in US history failed to eradicate.

Racism is not concentrated in the video with the last moments of the unfortunate George Floyd, which caused a worldwide wave of outrage. Racism is all those manifestations of everyday life in the lives of black American citizens who show racism in the United States.

Most black people in the United States are the poorest people living in the most disadvantaged areas of American cities. Authoritative American newspapers during the Covid-19 pandemic in the United States published articles reporting incidents in which black American citizens were not admitted to hospitals because medical and nursing staff considered them to be lying.

At the same time, statistics show that the majority of those arrested for violating social isolation measures to deal with the pandemic were black.

In fact, the unrest in Minneapolis and other US cities is due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has brought the racial problem to the forefront of the news in the United States, while bringing to the fore protests against all forms of social inequality.

The reader should understand that this racism does not exist in all aspects of American society, but mainly in American political life. More specifically, the issue of racism in the US Armed Forces has been resolved since the Vietnam War for a simple reason.

Pfc. One guarded the other’s life.

And when the Vietnam War ended, the survivors were like “brothers” to each other because all of them, regardless of their skin color as war veterans, faced the same outcry from American society.

The subsequent wars in which the US Armed Forces were involved also included the Spanish-speakers as much in the US Armed Forces as in the American Nation. Today, most of the US military is made up of Spanish-speakers.

President Donald Trump dealing with racism

The death of George Floyd has brought the racial problem to the heart of the political controversy as the United States gradually enters a pre-election period ahead of the November US election.

In contrast to the then speech of Abraham Lincoln – one of the greatest leaders in history – the Gettysburg Address, the current US President Donald Trump does not talk about the ideals of freedom and equality but deals with his struggle to express himself freely.

Instead of talking about reconciliation, he not only encourages groups of far-right armed “outraged whites” who threatened elected Democratic officials after invading the Michigan Capitol, but also denounces as bums those who protest against the killers of black American citizens (murders by white citizens and policemen equally) while threatening that “when the looting starts, the shootings will start” !!!!

At the same time, the current President is threatening social media with sanctions and is publicly arguing with Twitter, which accuses him of praising violence with his twits for the riots in Minneapolis. Protesting against the practice of a private company because it bothered him, the President of the United States is threatening the freedom of expression in general.

The instrumentalization of racism as a “weapon” in the political arena

Donald Trump’s goal is to further divide American society just before the November election, hoping that intolerance, division, and unrest will unite his electoral base.

However, it should be noted that Donald Trump is defending his political future with these “weapons”, seeing that the really disgusting death of unfortune George Floyd is being used by certain political and business circles in the US to lead Donald Trump “defending” and “apologizing” in the American elections of November 2020.

Until the Covid-19 pandemic hit the United States, the US economy was doing well. Implemented measures to tackle the pandemic have raised unemployment to 20%, and most U.S. State Governors who have implemented lockdown policies belong to the Democratic Party.

Today, we see peaceful protests by outraged American citizens about police violence against black American citizens ending in riots and looting of public and private property.

It is a disgrace to the memory of the victims that peaceful demonstrations turn into looting of shops and destruction of private and public property. Deaths from the recent violent clashes have already killed two protesters and a police officer.

Riots erupt in several US cities over Minneapolis

Everyone is accusing President Donald Trump but at the same time and according to the American Constitution the President of US is not responsible for the behavior of every state police officer.

The mayor of the city, who also appoints the police leadership, is in charge. Seems that the goal of these looting and riots is to make Donald Trump lose the Presidential election.

Democrat candidate Joe Biden, on the other hand, said those blacks who did not vote for him would not be black. Such “jokes” angered voters, especially black voters, and Democrats are likely to seek their votes in the elections.

What needs to be fixed and done?

Unfortunately, the death of George Floyd and the way he lost his life are added to a long list of deadly violence perpetrated indirectly by authorized state officials which is the police against black American citizens.

Ιt seems like some states of US and their corresponding law enforcement officials have not “accepted” the outcome of the American Civil War, nor have they accepted Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address-speech.

It is this long list of police violence that, under the administration of Barack Obama, forced outraged American citizens to demonstrate that the lives of blacks are also valuable (the movement of Black Lives Matter).

If this long list of deadly violence against black American citizens continues, peaceful protests will turn into clashes between citizens and police. It is a disgrace to the memory of the victims that peaceful demonstrations turn into looting of shops and destruction of private and public property. Deaths from the recent violent clashes have already killed two protesters and a police officer.

When a police officer leaves his home to go to work or any other type of social gathering and does not say good morning to at least twenty people he meets in the streets of the area where he lives, this shows that the police officer is “isolated” from the local community in who lives. Then it is much easier to react violently in any case he encounters during the performance of his duties.

If a state investigation is conducted among the police force on the number of people the policemen say good morning when they leave every day from their homes (except the people in the police force), then the state and the policemen themselves will understand how integrated and accepted they are in their local communities.

And their social life most likely includes their lives in the police force and with their colleagues. But the police come from the “bowels” of society.

The policeman is the classmate who was sitting at the same desk at the elementary school and when he closes the door of his house he is preoccupied with the same concepts about his family that most people in the world have about their own family.

The solution to police violence is the “real” integration of police officers into the local communities where they live. Then their role will be more advisory and more acceptable, and they will not see him as an “enemy” who wants to kill them.

It is the responsibility of both the state and the police leadership to pursue this policy, the results of which will be seen in the long run and not within a year.

It is also particularly important for all US citizens to resist the divisive discourse from wherever it comes, reaffirming the principles of freedom and equality that have made US a great nation.

One hundred and fifty-seven years ago (November 19, 1863) the 16th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln (1861-1865) in his speech known as…

[390,819
1682,655,1680,1683,1681,575,492,1684
post-2356","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-politics","category-usa","tag-abraham-lincoln","tag-donald-trump","tag-george-floyd","tag-gettysburg-address","tag-minneapolis","tag-racism","tag-social-unrest","tag-twitter
["GET
