The one who wedges into a jacket two sizes too small, the pants sending a distress signal from the pressure and he thinks he looks like an Italian businessman – when in reality he reminds you of a provincial influencer at a baptism. Fashion comes and goes, but good dressing is above trends and TikTok challenges. In recent years, the suit has gone through torture: from suffocating skinny fits that made legs look like spaghetti to oversized shapes that reminded you of a child who borrowed his dad’s suit. Somewhere in between, the ultimate cringe was born: the overly tight suit. If your pants fit tighter than 90s jeans or if your jacket wraps around your shoulders like the Hulk before ripping his shirt off, that’s not style.

The Importance of Suit Comfort

A suit is a tool of power. It is not a shroud. If it feels like it is trapping you, something has gone wrong. The rule is simple: if you can’t sit comfortably or if the button on your jacket is about to fly off at the speed of light, it is not the right suit for you.

Three key points that make the difference:

–Fit: A proper suit hugs the body without imprisoning it. The pants should not cut off blood circulation and -most importantly- should let you sit without feeling like your little ones are fighting for their survival.
–Fabric: If your suit shines like aluminum foil, something has gone wrong. Natural fabrics, like wool and linen, give movement and elegance, unlike synthetics that make you look like a cheap late-night telemarketing lawyer.
–Movement: A good suit should follow the movement of the body, not oppress it. If the jacket rides up every time you raise your arm or if the pants look like they’re about to fall apart at the first sudden movement, it might be time to rethink your choices.

The Classic Suit: A Timeless Choice

Trends change, but a good, timeless suit doesn’t need an Instagram filter to look right. The right suit:
–It has a balanced fit. It doesn’t suffocate you, nor does it make you swim in it.
–It doesn’t try too hard. If it’s well-tailored, you don’t need extravagance or accessories that scream “look at me, I know fashion.”
–It’s an investment. It’s not fast fashion. It’s a piece you’ll wear for years without looking outdated.

The Suit as a Personal Affair

At the end of the day, a suit is not just a piece of clothing. It is a statement of who you are. If you can’t walk comfortably, if your pants make you look like a Peaky Blinders character who bought the outfit from a random store, and if your jacket reminds you of a high school student who got his first suit for his graduation party, then my friend, something is wrong.

Confidence starts with how you feel in your clothes. If you can’t move your arms without fear of tearing your armpit, that’s not confidence. It’s a risk. The right suit doesn’t wear you—you wear it. And that’s the difference between a man who knows and one who just put on a suit to wear. Whatever you do, do it with style and only for your soul.

There are two kinds of men who wear suits.
