It is a 180-degree turn that has a clear and ambitious geopolitical goal, however difficult it may be to achieve.

The American turn towards Russia aims to split the Moscow-Beijing axis, but in the end it threatens to split the West itself.

US President Donald Trump’s rapprochement with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin “is dictated by a strategic desire to drive a wedge between Moscow and Beijing.”

In the early 1970s, then-US President Richard Nixon, assisted by diplomatic guru and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, made a dramatic shift towards China in order to deepen the rift between Beijing and the Soviet Union, which ultimately changed the course of the Cold War and laid the foundation for the rise of the Asian giant.

Colpo grosso for Russia, it is definitely won

Trump is now trying to do the opposite. However, breaking up the Russia-China axis “will be extremely difficult.”

1. these two countries have already significantly strengthened military cooperation and their foreign policy has become even more coordinated. China provides economic support to Russia, including supplies of computer chips and machine tools.

2. Washington’s support for Russia comes at the expense of Ukraine, which alienates the US from its European allies, who collectively are America’s largest trading partner and main foreign investor.

3. Trump’s actions are effectively leading to a split-civil war in the West while Russia is simultaneously moving closer to both the US and China. At the same time, the Kremlin is likely ready to make some compromises.

The strange proposed policy towards Moscow from a certain think tank

Moscow could offer the US to stop cooperation with China in the field of military and advanced technologies – in exchange for a peace agreement on Ukraine on terms favorable to Russia. There are also proposals to grant American companies the rights to mineral deposits in the annexed territories of Ukraine.

The US cannot contain China

However, skeptics doubt that Russia is really able to help the US contain China.

First, Beijing already has all the military technologies that Russia has. Putin also understands that Russia’s relations with China are strategic and long-term, and that rapprochement with Washington is most likely temporary.

Russia understands that China is its giant neighbor, that the Chinese Communist Party will remain in power for the foreseeable future, and that easing relations with Beijing is a mortal danger. However, this does not mean that Putin will not exploit the situation.

Trump’s proposal gives him the opportunity to achieve what he has been seeking for three years of war: a change of power in Kiev and the return of Ukraine to Moscow’s influence.

Russia has a history of respecting its alliances

The Nixon maneuver, of course, has enormous difficulties in implementing, and these lie in Russia’s long-standing position of not trading the interests of its partners in order to please others.

Russia fights for its own national interests and makes those decisions that are beneficial to itself. In negotiations with the United States, Russia will not represent or defend any side other than its own – the Chinese side or the Iranian side. China and Iran will defend their national interests.

Russia, first of all, is not obliged to inform China of its negotiating agenda. However, Moscow will not abandon China, as the relations between the two sides have a solid foundation and strong institutional ties.

The two countries are working to promote a multipolar world and create their own international organizations, such as the BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, while also aiming to maintain the stability of their borders.

It was China that provided an invaluable service to Russia by ensuring the export of its oil, gas and coal when the West imposed sanctions on it. Thus, the Russian budget received funds to finance the special military operation.

The Big Deal – War on Globalization and a Multipolar World

Russian foreign policy does not deviate from its main goal, which is the war on globalization and neoliberal ideals.

Multipolarity is becoming more and more stable and visible, especially through structures such as BRICS, while the unipolar world is steadily moving towards its decline – especially after the start of the Trump revolution in the USA. Of course, Trump and his team will try to preserve the unipolar world, but in a different form, based on the direct hegemony of the USA.

However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already recognized that we live in a multipolar world. Russia believes that the UN is an organization formed by the results of the Second World War, where the Security Council, the distribution of power and its mechanisms were formally established on the principles of Westphalian logic.

The UN recognized only states as sovereign actors. As Vladimir Putin’s philosopher and mentor Alexander Dugin argues, the UN’s founding also contained a contradictory formula: recognizing both the right of every nation-state to territorial integrity and the right of peoples to self-determination, a principle that inherently challenges sovereignty.

Can the UN be restructured to align with the principles of a multipolar world?

This is considered extremely difficult because the current UN structure reflects the combination of the Westphalian system and the ideological bipolarity established by the Yalta Conference and the aftermath of World War II. But since then, many wars have been fought, reshaping the political map of the world beyond recognition.

As a result, today’s nation-states have extremely asymmetric levels of sovereignty and real power. This is why the United Nations is incapable of such a transformation or evolution, Alexander Dugin believes.

“A possible step in this direction – the emerging conditions of a multipolar world, with an appropriate distribution of roles within key institutions – could be the establishment of a dialogue between the BRICS countries as a model of multipolarity, on the one hand, and Trump’s America, on the other.

Eventually, through a residual process, Europe could join in – once it finally wakes up and emerges from the liberal-globalization delirium in which it unfortunately still finds itself,” Dugin concludes in his analysis.

The entire planet has been watching with bated breath the stormy developments related to the impressive turn of the United States in its relations…

[836,825,3,826
4448,161,655,25,470,124,58,215,70,1166,184
post-23002","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-asia-geopolitical","category-europe-geopolitical","category-geopolitical","category-usa-geopolitical","tag-alexander-dugin","tag-china","tag-donald-trump","tag-eu","tag-europe","tag-nato","tag-russia","tag-us","tag-usa","tag-vladimir-putin","tag-west
["GET
