It is indeed a smart and apparently effective policy. He has already imposed tariffs on Mexico because it does not stop illegal immigration at the southern border of the US. He did the same to China and Canada!

And now the rhetoric of the day is warning of tariffs on the countries of the European Union! Something that sounds almost hostile from a country so closely linked to Europe as the US.

From the overtaxation of European products in American markets, only benefits for the US can arise. Practical, political, ideological benefits. Let’s look at the issue in detail.

The European Union, as an organization, is recommended by two main arguments:

1. The first is that we need the Union to ensure peace and security in Europe. The federalization of some of the most powerful countries on the planet will bring strength, security, and peace.

2. The second is that the common commercial market is a powerful business tool and therefore guarantees economic growth and the solid foundations of an internal market.

These two arguments may be at least wrong. This is what the measurable results for both arguments show.

Security on the European continent does not exist. For example, in one of the once safest countries, Sweden, there are now 60 “no-go zones” – areas designated by the police where citizens have been warned not to enter due to crime. In 2023, there were more than 300 bombings, 50,000 rapes and countless shootings and robberies. The same thing is happening in the rest of the EU with beheadings, murders of priests, burning of churches, terrorist acts with hecatombs of dead people (e.g. Bataclan) etc. with the exception of Hungary, Poland and Slovakia who deny the Muslim invasion.

Also for at least 3 years now the EU has been trembling (according to its own words) a Russian invasion.

So the argument of security and peace has already been invalidated.

As for the famous “common market” now. With an EU constantly operating with a “hard currency” with a VAT policy that after decades of implementation is clear that it does not promote equality in the market but creates extraordinary problems, with half of the countries being over-indebted and local production having “migrated” to China, only “Common Market” should not be called.

Perhaps Chinese Market would be more apt. It is, for example, much more likely to find Chinese clothes on the market than French ones… also Chinese electronics than Italian ones… even Asian car manufacturers have surpassed traditional European ones in sales.

However, the narrative of the common market still works for European citizens. While they will accuse the EU of many things, the general idea of monetary union is still strong as there is fear for the economies of each country individually. The second argument of the EU implementation is still active.

Let us now come to the case of tariffs from the US. The first thing that will happen is a psychological rupture among European citizens, who always look (unfortunately) to the US as the protector. Also, economic gears will inevitably be mobilized and countries that will be affected by the tariffs will approach the US for bilateral economic agreements. For example, we believe that it will not be difficult for Meloni’s Italy to protect Italian wine exports to the US. However, it will be much more difficult for Spain and France, who have already treated the new Trump administration with disdain.

This new page in EU-US relations will trigger a chain of economic changes that will essentially demonstrate to Europeans that, after all, the common market is not that useful…

Thus we will reach an extremely dangerous situation for the EU. region, where both main arguments for its existence will have been proven absurd and de facto nullified.

The more American sanctions against the EU, the greater the chances of a final blow to the EU and the dawn of a new era where this experiment will end, and the European people will regress to the past.

President Trump was elected with a central slogan that anyone who does not comply with US policy will face severe tariffs on their products…

[818,390,819
25,46,2530,215,70
post-22671","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-europe","category-politics","category-usa","tag-eu","tag-tariffs","tag-trade","tag-us","tag-usa
["GET
