Less known is the fact that some of Monet&#8217;s most remarkable Impressionist paintings were made not in France but in London. They depict extraordinary views of the Thames as it had never been seen before, full of evocative atmosphere, mysterious light and radiant colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Begun during three stays in the capital between 1899 and 1901, the series \u2014 depicting Charing Cross Bridge, Waterloo Bridge and the Houses of Parliament \u2014 was unveiled in Paris in 1904. Monet fervently wanted to show them in London the following year, but plans fell through through. To this day, they have never been the subject of a UK exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition &#8220;Monet and London: Views of the Thames&#8221; is housed in <strong>the Courtauld Gallery<\/strong>, one of the most important art museums in London. The works of the great painter will be on view until 19 January 2025. The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to explore this transformation and discover how Monet&#8217;s paintings defined the modern perspective on the Thames and London.
