Israel’s ambassador to Ukraine has confirmed that Kiev is now in possession of Israel’s powerful “Code Red” early warning system, which will help the war-torn country prevent Russian airstrikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky, who spoke to Ukrainian media, said that the Tzeva Adom missile warning system has finally been delivered to Ukraine after several months of planning and discussion. This is “Tzeva Adom” which in Hebrew means “Code Red”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diplomat emphasized that Ukraine was solely responsible for implementing the system and integrating it into the country’s current air defense framework. As he himself pointed out, Israel’s role is limited only to providing the system in question\u2026”, Michael Brodsky emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many military analysts and media sites in Ukraine have already expressed concerns about the system’s inoperability and lamented the lack of information from Ukrainian officials about the reason for the delay as Russia continues to pound Ukrainian cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tzeva Adom system<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, when militants in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon have fired thousands of rockets at Israeli cities, the system has been credited with saving hundreds of lives in Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, the Israel Defense Forces have made extensive use of the Tzeva Adom system to warn residents in villages near the Gaza Strip of impending attacks. In recent times, the system’s accuracy has improved, allowing it to narrow down the areas of major cities where it issues alerts.<\/p>\n\n\n

The timeline\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delivery of the system comes after a long and arduous consultation process between the two sides. Ukraine’s ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, said that tests and experiments with Tzeva Adom had begun in early 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Development of the system was intended to begin in major Ukrainian cities where attacks had targeted important infrastructure. The system is intended to quickly warn citizens of imminent dangers from regular missile attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Israeli ambassador’s statement comes months after Gilad Erdan, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said the country was working to send early warning systems to Ukraine for missile and drone attacks. These systems would help “save civilian lives from Russia’s indiscriminate missile and drone attacks,” Erdan said at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n

Are Russian-Israeli relations at a standstill?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The surrender is likely to undermine Israel’s relationship with Russia. Despite being a close ally of the US, which is the largest supplier of military aid to Ukraine, Israel has so far\u2026 been walking a diplomatic tightrope over the Russia-Ukraine war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel has actively sought cooperation with Russia in Syria, while often on opposing sides on geopolitical issues. Israel has so far rejected Ukraine’s request for a missile interception capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This hesitation is largely attributed to Israel’s strategic need to maintain its operational freedom in Syria, where Russian forces primarily control the airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Israel is one of the few nations that enjoys somewhat positive ties with both Russia and Ukraine. After questioning the issue of sending military aid to Ukraine, Israel reportedly approved the sale of defensive military equipment to Ukraine, including electronic warfare equipment with a 40km range that could be used to deter drone attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
