Nikola Milik is preparing dinner for his five children when suddenly the police knock on his door: his wife was murdered &#8211; by him &#8211; at least that&#8217;s what he&#8217;s accused of. The father of the family is removed from his children in a second. The accused has the right to a lawyer: Jean Monnier is standing by his side. Jean is a disillusioned lawyer, assigned to defend him and from here on he hardly deviates from it. He seems to be taking the case more and more personally. While all the evidence points to his guilt, Monier seems convinced of his innocence. As his investigations send him back to the night of the murder and the family dynamic, he grows even closer to his client, increasing the pressure to defend him.
