Officials from Nepal revealed that they have contacted more than 200 families of Nepalese men who enlisted in the Russian army. Officials confirmed that 19 of those men have died on the Ukrainian battlefield, while another 5 are being held hostage by the Ukrainian military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are no official figures showing exactly how many Nepalese citizens are currently serving as mercenaries alongside Russian forces in Ukraine, but unconfirmed estimates suggest that we are dealing with around 15,000 Nepalis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main reason these many thousands of Asians chose to sign contracts with the Russian military is the attractively high salary offered by the Kremlin. Specifically, it is said that this amount can even reach 2 thousand dollars per month. Foreign mercenaries who fight alongside the Russian army have the opportunity to acquire Russian citizenship faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The generous pay and the promise of becoming official Russian citizens has led many foreigners to sign contracts with the Russian military and join the Ukrainian battlefield as mercenaries. But many of them complain that the contracts they signed did not say anywhere that they would be sent to the front line, instead claiming that they agreed to serve as cooks and cleaners in the rear. This is why many families of Nepalese mercenaries are protesting to the country’s government and asking for their relatives back.<\/p>\n\n\n

Indians and Cubans Complement the Nepalese<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russian foreign mercenary groups in Ukraine appear to be mostly Nepalese, but there are other nationalities of soldiers fighting on Russia’s side. Specifically, media suggest that many Indians and Cubans have voluntarily lined up on the front line in favor of Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At some point in the previous months, hackers working for the interests of Kiev had published the names of at least 200 Cubans who had signed contracts with the Russian military to participate in the conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the nationalities of Russian mercenaries are not limited to these three countries. Soldiers from Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Somalia and other Central Asian and African countries are fighting at the front.
