In the wake of the Ukrainian defeat, he is preparing for a total war with Russia in the next 20 years, while a retired general – commander of his forces in Europe calls for the bombing of Crimea. NATO’s war cries come as the Ukrainian front in the proxy war with Russia completely collapses.

As part of war preparations, some 90,000 NATO troops are to begin the pact’s biggest military exercise since the Cold War. The operation, called Steadfast Defender, is designed specifically to prepare the alliance for a Russian invasion.

All-out war with Russia in the next 20 years

All-out war with Russia could break out within the next 20 years, a top NATO official is warning as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization prepares for its biggest military exercises in decades. The start of NATO military exercises next week – involving around 90,000 troops and lasting months – aimed at proving the alliance can defend its territory right up to its border with Russia.

The Germans see the war with Russia closer and are worried

There are officials who see war with Russia closer in time. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius claims Russian President Vladimir Putin could attack NATO countries in less than 10 years. It is worth noting that leaked German military documents even imagine a scenario in which Russia launches a massive offensive in the spring of 2024 to take advantage of declining Western support for Ukraine.

Senior NATO officials are increasingly concerned that their governments and defense industries are falling behind in preparations for an attack as stockpiles of weapons and ammunition continue to dwindle from the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, Russia tripled its military spending to 40% of the total national budget. In December 2023, Putin denied claims by his US counterpart Joe Biden that Russia could go to war with NATO, calling them “complete nonsense”.

Breedlove (Former NATO commander in Europe): Bomb Crimea

Retired US General Philip Breedlove, former NATO Supreme Commander in Europe, said the West should send heavy weapons to Kiev and allow heavy attacks on the Crimean region. According to Breedlove, only by attacking Russian positions in the Black Sea will Ukraine be able to make Moscow “rethink its attitude”.

Breedlove described Crimea as the “center of gravity” and “the most decisive ground of the war.” For him, the key to “defeating” Russia is to hit Crimea as much and as hard as possible. He believes that the more attacks are made in the region, the more Russia will be affected and will be forced to retreat in the entire conflict zone.

Recently, Western support for Ukraine has been waning, leaving regime officials concerned about the future of Kiev’s military capabilities. However, despite this trend, there are still public figures in the West calling for further escalation and sending more heavy weapons to Ukraine.

So, faced with the imminent exhaustion of Ukraine’s military capabilities, the general advises allowing NATO to deploy weapons on a massive scale, mainly long-range missiles that allow deep strikes into Crimea. “If we allow Ukraine to be able to strike Crimea – persistently and accurately – Russia will be forced to rethink its stance there. Hit them all, hit them repeatedly and destroy them,” he said.

It should be noted that Breedlove’s position is shared by other NATO officials. Neutralizing Russian positions in Crimea has been a Ukrainian ambition since 2022, with several unsuccessful offensives taking place in the region.

“Bomb the Kerch Bridge”

One of the main objectives is the destruction of the Kerch bridge, which is considered the key point of Crimea. Not coincidentally, Kiev launched attacks on the Bridge, killing civilians but failing to cause major infrastructure damage. Not only that, but General Breedlove himself has already become known for his extreme stance on Crimea.

In October 2023 he published an (American Security Project) news article stating that the bombing of Crimea is necessary to achieve “Ukrainian victory”. He openly called for the destruction of the Kerch bridge, calling it a “legitimate target”. At the time, he also criticized all analysts’ arguments about the need to take precautions with these attacks to avoid escalating the conflict.

Breedlove seems unconcerned about the possibility of escalation of hostilities, stating that it is necessary to inflict damage on Crimea regardless of the side effects. “Many people I spoke to said that destroying the Kerch bridge would be a huge blow to Russia.”

This bridge is a legitimate target. I am an engineer by education and experience and know about bridge construction. All bridges have their weak points and if targeted in the right spot, it could be inoperable for some time. But if they wanted to blow the bridge, that would require a more intense bombing operation.

I hear many asking whether it is right for Ukraine to take such aggressive action and whether the West would support it, but I cannot understand that argument,” he said at the time.
According to him, if the Ukrainians increase the pressure in Crimea they would force the Russians to concentrate their efforts in the region neglecting the defensive lines on the battlefield and facilitating the territorial advance of Kiev. With this, it was supposed to be possible for Ukrainian troops to reach the Black Sea by advancing on land, reversing the current military reality.

The Russian answer

This thought of the American general obviously lacks logic. The Russian response to possible repeated attacks in Crimea would not be through some sharp change in the situation on the front lines, but rather through an exponential increase in bombing against strategic targets across Ukraine.

Moscow military doctrine establishes artillery as the primary factor in a battle scenario. At every attempt by Ukraine to escalate the fighting, the Russians respond with heavy artillery, destroying enemy military installations, critical infrastructure and decision-making centers.
In practice, Ukraine is at an impasse as it suffers more and more casualties every time it tries to turn the situation around.

The country is unable to change the scenario, having as an alternative only peace negotiations on Russian terms – something that NATO apparently does not allow to Kiev. Moreover, it is unlikely that the Atlantic alliance will continue to send long-range weapons in large quantities in the near future, as the US is heavily involved in the conflict in the Middle East, reducing its interest in the Ukrainian front.

NATO is in a state of insanity.
