This unique truth is now also admitted by the American experts.

The Russian military has a clear advantage in an evolving “war of attrition” in Ukraine, as it has advanced and upgraded weapons readily available, while the Ukrainian military is struggling to manage the equipment it receives from NATO.

Upgraded T-80BVM tanks have been delivered to Russian units operating in the Zaporizhia region. The armored vehicles have a new communication system and additional armor units that allow them to withstand hits from drones and anti-tank missiles. At the same time, the Ukrainians are trying to counter this armament with the German-made Leopard (please read the analysis titled “How did the counterattack of the Ukrainians collapse?“).

Russia ahead in tanks and electronic warfare

Very few of the Leopard 1 and 2 tanks delivered to Ukraine by Germany had a series of problems that compounded the problems of the Ukrainian army. Ukraine has little chance of winning a war of attrition with such equipment.

In this conflict, Russia is using its most modern, regularly used tank, the T-90 Proryv while receiving hundreds of new tanks of this value. But both sides of this conflict are also using upgraded tanks.

Soviet tanks, as we’ve seen recently, but actually most of the Leopards, numerically, that the Ukrainian government has received are actually upgraded Leopard 1s from the 1950s. Well, they actually only got a few dozen of the most modern Leopard 2A6 and 2A4. Commenting on the Russian T-80BVM, we must point out that it is a highly upgraded version of the T-80 that surpasses many western ones. The most interesting upgrades to the T-80BVM are the anti-drone units.

These are electronic warfare units mounted on each individual tank in order to block and stop kamikaze drone attacks on the tank. . Reports from the field show very good results with this electronic warfare equipment. Drones crawl through the mud when attacking these tanks.

Furthermore, Russia does not have the logistical problems that the Ukrainian government has with tanks. The bottom line is that the Russians produce their own tanks. They have spare parts and are therefore able to repair their armored vehicles. The Russians have a huge fleet of older machines that they could upgrade, and furthermore, the Russian military has been extensively trained to handle these tanks.

Nightmare for Ukrainians

On the other hand the Ukrainians are stuck with a bunch of different tanks. A few Challengers, a few Abrams, a few Leopard 2s, about 100 Leopard 1s.

They took some T, old Soviet T-55s out of storage and used them, this is pure nonsense. And the Ukrainian government isn’t even able to operate them effectively because they don’t have the trained personnel, much less maintain them and maintain a supply chain for them.

This particular logistical nightmare is really a very serious hindrance to the Ukrainian military in this conflict that Russia does not have. But that’s what happens when you try to build a proxy army in the middle of a war. The problem is compounded by the fact that NATO countries have different military equipment. Kyiv receives different equipment from two dozen different countries. It is not a good situation for the Ukrainian government and the country.

Unsustainable environment for western weapons

It is recalled that in March 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the Russian Federation will produce more than 1,600 tanks per year, while the total number of these tanks will be more than three times that of those possessed by Ukraine.

It should be compared with about 450 different tanks, many older, some newer supplied by Western countries to Ukraine in an unsustainable environment for said tanks. There is industrial logic to the war of attrition.

What is a war of attrition?

A war of attrition means crushing an adversary’s physical ability to fight, its ability to replenish its weapon stocks, as well as replace its fallen soldiers.

Ukraine has little chance of prevailing in such a conflict given its huge battlefield losses (about 160,000 people in the six months of the counteroffensive (4/6/2023).

Ukraine also faces an ever-increasing decline in military supplies from the West while lacking full-scale military production on its territory. After all, Russia’s recent strikes in the expiration of 2023 took place in places where the Ukrainian Armed Forces produced missiles and drones.

A source in the Ukrainian defense industry stressed that Russia carried out attacks mainly on defense facilities. Some of them were related to the production of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. The attacks were of strategic importance.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that in one week, 50 mass strikes were carried out on the territory of Ukraine with precision weapons and drones. The targets were military-industrial complex facilities, military airfields, arsenals and military sites.

The Russian armed forces have imposed a war of attrition on Ukraine, which they are winning comfortably as they can and make up for…

[2362,7,3830
58,1156,1976,3395,5079
post-16933","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-science","category-research","category-war-in-ukraine","tag-russia","tag-ukraine","tag-war","tag-war-in-ukraine","tag-war-of-attrition
["GET
