Russia has also lost a total of 5,105 tanks and 7,081 artillery systems, according to Ukraine’s General Staff of the Army.

Throughout the war effort, Russian losses in personnel and equipment are considered high, and Western analysts broadly agree with Ukraine’s calculations. Kiev also took a heavy hit to its military equipment stockpile and lost many soldiers in the grueling war of attrition. Ukraine has lost 12,882 tanks and armored fighting vehicles since last February, Russia’s defense ministry said on Monday. Ukrainian forces have also lost 6,853 field guns and mortars, Moscow added.

Russian forces continued efforts to encircle Avdiyivka, “actively using their aircraft, but Ukrainian soldiers are standing their ground, inflicting heavy losses on the enemy,” Ukraine’s General Staff said on Tuesday. Its fighters repelled more than 10 enemy attacks along the front lines in Donetsk, west and north of Avdiyivka, as well as around the city itself, the Ukrainian military said.

Russian forces advanced around Avdiyivka on Monday, including in the northeast of the city. Over the weekend, it was reported that Ukraine had likely endured another intensified Russian offensive effort” around Avdiyivka and had “inflicted further heavy losses of personnel and equipment on Russian troops in the area.

Russian forces have been pushed towards the front line from the Donetsk city of Avdiyivka, as the latest map of their offensive shows their marginal gains amid reports of high troop losses.

British Ministry of Defense officials said the Russian attacks on Avdiyivka contributed to a “90% increase in Russian casualties” in Ukraine.

On Monday one in 10 Russian equipment losses since Kiev launched its counteroffensive in June had occurred in the previous 10 days, which coincided with the intensification of clashes in Avdiyevka.

On the same day, Russian forces had made confirmed advances northeast of Avdiyivka, as Russian sources said troops had advanced just over a mile in the area in recent days.

Ukrainian forces had retaliated near Avdiyivka, but also near the waste dump northwest of the city, which is a disputed “grey zone”, but made no confirmed advances.

Russian sources said on Sunday that Moscow forces had broken through the waste heap and railway near Stepove and pushed back Ukrainian forces. A Ukrainian source said Russian troops had advanced to within 3 miles and southwest of Avdiyivka.

The reported high Russian casualties in the battle for the city come as the British Ministry of Defense said that since the start of the war, Moscow has suffered up to 190,000 permanent casualties, made up of dead and wounded.

These figures do not include soldiers from the mercenary group Wagner Group, which was headed by Yevgeny Prigozhin until he died in a plane crash in August.

Russian forces lost 810 soldiers, 12 tanks and 24 artillery systems in a single day, according to Kiev, as Russia’s high casualty rate shows…

[2362,7,3830
58,1156,1976,3395
post-15958","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-military-science","category-research","category-war-in-ukraine","tag-russia","tag-ukraine","tag-war","tag-war-in-ukraine
["GET
