Outgoing President of the European Council and former Polish Prime-Minister Donald\nTusk will replace Frenchman Joseph Dal in the European People\u2019s Party (EPP)\nleadership. This shows the ever-increasing political weight that the Nordic and\nEastern member countries of the EU are gaining in the EPP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is no coincidence since the new Eastern EU member countries belong to the hardest core of the European right, in some cases their positions on specific issues flirt with the positions of the European extreme right, while upgrading their role and influence in the EPP and forging with the German Christian Democrats the new future highly conservative political positions of the EPP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In EU member countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland dominate\nover-conservative governments and political parties and the EPP generally\ndominates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side is France of Liberal Emmanuel Macron, a long time holding\nthe scepters to the Liberals of the EU, while the Liberals face problems in\nSpain and Romania, because in these EU member countries they cannot raise their\nlow electorate percentages. On the other hand, the Socialists only exist in\nSpain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EPP is the dominant political power of the EU. The new President of the\nEuropean Commission, Ursula von der Lien, comes from the EPP. The EPP has the\nlargest group of Commissioners, because of the electoral rates achieved by the\nEPP, as a first power, in the European elections in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first two half-yearly EU Presidencies, the Croatian and German\ncounterparts, belong to governments coming from the European centre-right\n(EPP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Essentially next year (2020), it will be seen whether the EPP can influence\ndevelopments and pass its political positions on the various EU issues. These\npolitical positions mainly concern the following EU issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Tackling refugee-migration on a new basis.<\/li>
  2. The management of\nBrexit.<\/li>
  3. The European economy’s agenda and its development on a green-ecological\nbasis.<\/li>
  4. The EU budget.<\/li>
  5. The finalisation of the deposit guarantee scheme in the EU.<\/li>
  6. Changing the process and the rules on the enlargement of the EU.<\/li>
  7. The acceptance or not of the Western Balkans in the EU.<\/li>
  8. Climate change (due to the large rise of the electorate percentage of the\nGreen Party in the EU).<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The European Greens indicate a remarkable dynamic and are the new political\nrival of the EPP. The EPP strategies and their success would depend on largely\nduring 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Since the EPP can pass the positions-its policies on these issues, the EU\nwill be directed to a very conservative view of tackling the problems that are\nplaguing it. Since the end of next year (2020) in the US Presidential election\nin November 2020 again elected US President Donald Trump all these conservative\nEPP policies and by extension the EU policies will sooner or later clash with\nthe President Donald Trump’s policies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
