In other words, to be employed in fields where Artificial Intelligence will not have made machines powerful and human hands completely unnecessary.

However, the prognosis is rather ominous for workers, as it is considered 50% certain that within the next four decades, Artificial Intelligence will have advanced enough to put humans out of the production process in all areas of professional activity without exception. Moreover, it is estimated that in 120 years the concept of work for humans will have completely disappeared – at least in the conventional way.

Oxford scientists insist that the human community should prepare for violent social upheavals that will result from the conquests of Artificial Intelligence.

In other words, thinking machines will ensure that, for example, their own language-to-language translation skills will surpass in accuracy and speed even the best living interpreter. This is supposed to happen very soon, by 2024. By 2026, AI computers will write original school reports that will be indistinguishable from those of real students.

The innovation of the chatbot

The onslaught of Artificial Intelligence, along with a host of related digital technology conquests, has already begun and is poised to become a sweeping wave. There is no doubt among the followers that Artificial Intelligence and its applications will drastically change every aspect of people’s daily lives across the planet. Nevertheless, any discussion currently taking place regarding Artificial Intelligence and its predicted progress in the coming decades is almost monopolized and focused exclusively on the disruption that ChatGPT brings to humanity’s daily life.

If anything, the field of digital technology has already turned into an arena where there is a fierce struggle for survival between two beasts: the dominant and established Google, on the one hand, and the ambitious, impatient “young lion”, the fan of the future on the Internet, ChatGPT. Google, on the other hand, represents the status quo, the established and dominant philosophy, where the success of the search engine is judged based on two, mainly, criteria: speed and accuracy, how quickly the Google algorithm offers the answer the user needs, under in the form of addresses to websites relevant to his question.

ChatGPT, however, answers the questions itself, synthesizes information, and presents a logically structured text, rather than simply linking to external sources. It’s kind of like comparing two cars of different generations, like a model with a thermal engine and an electric one. Both serve the same need, but in a completely different way. And the noticeable difference is Artificial Intelligence, since ChatGPT is not built on an algorithm, like Google search, but on sophisticated machines that have the ability to learn by considering an unimaginably large amount of information.

Thanks to its special, innovative “way of thinking” – in other words its complex algorithmic architecture – ChatGPT is leading the race in which within the next few years all the giants of the digital world (Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc.) will participate – possibly with the addition of other newcomers to the Artificial Intelligence game.

On one side is, for example, the wise old man – and archetypal “fox” of international diplomacy – former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. At the age of 99, and together with former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and MIT Computer School dean Daniel Huttenlocher, he recently co-authored a lengthy but extremely interesting analysis of ChatGPT in the Wall Street Journal. In short, the trio of Kissinger, Schmitt and Huttenlocher attempt to substantiate the title and subtitle of their article, namely “ChatGPT Sparks an Intellectual Revolution – Productive Artificial Intelligence Poses a Philosophical and Practical Challenge on a Scale Unprecedented Since of Enlightenment and beyond”.

The anti-prophecy

The point of view of the three eminent intellectuals, as they have also developed it in a related book they co-authored, consists epigrammatically in the fact that the new technology introduced by ChatGPT is not a cross between Artificial Intelligence and the structure of a conventional Internet information search engine.

ChatGPT is a harbinger of a completely new and different worldview due to which man will have to adapt to the latest intelligent machines, in a process that will ultimately change the cognitive and intellectual processes of the human brain once and for all.

On the other hand, the famous sociolinguist Noam Chomsky remains skeptical of the imminent omnipotence of Artificial Intelligence, stressing that “the human mind is surprising with how efficient it is, how elegant is the way it works with the smallest information that it uses not to to achieve crude correlations between different data, but to provide convincing explanations’.

Chomsky acknowledges the innovation of ChatGPT, but is not swayed by those who tend to treat it as a digital messiah. In his opinion, ChatGPT is by definition of limited effectiveness simply because it lacks judgment.

By 2027, according to the predictions of scientists collected and studied by the Institute for the Future of Humanity at the University of Oxford,…

[1168,2960
864,4259,4113,2921
post-13980","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-science-technology","category-technology","tag-artificial-intelligence","tag-chatbot","tag-chatgpt","tag-robots
["GET
