The Kiev regime complains that the Russians disabled the GPS targeting systems of US-supplied HIMARS missiles. Ukrainian military officials, with the help of the US, have had to come up with a variety of different solutions as they continue to use the High Mobility Artillery Missile System (HIMARS), which was perhaps the most respected and feared piece of weaponry in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The medium-range missile systems have been hailed as a game-changer in the conflict and have played a key role since they arrived in Ukraine last summer, including last year’s offensive that allowed Ukraine to take back significant swaths of territory from Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, in recent months, the systems have been made increasingly less effective by the Russians’ intensified blockade, forcing US and Ukrainian officials to find ways to modify HIMARS’ software to counter evolving Russian interference. GPS jamming also affects other “smart” weapons provided by the United States, such as Excalibur artillery shells and JDAM guided bombs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
