However, industry sources in the country say that the total cost of submarines (acquisition and use) may even approach $100 billion, citing as an example the program to build 15 new frigates, the cost of which has increased, from $25 to $ 80 billion. Today Canada maintains in service four &#8220;Victoria&#8221; (formerly &#8220;Upholder&#8221;) class submarines, which it acquired second-hand from Great Britain in 2000-2004.
