With his positions and his style he encourages anti-Europeans and Eurosceptics, from Orbán to Salvini and Le Pen.

On the contrary, Biden places special emphasis on the cultivation of US-EU relations, he considers the EU important part of the Western system and seeks leading participation of Europeans in NATO.

In the US domestic political scene, Democrats see Trump and Republicans as leading the country to a dead end with their political extremes and their obsession with divisive speech and discrimination.

For their part, Trump and the Republicans see the Democrats as … extreme leftists who are sinking the country into corruption, contributing to social disintegration with immigration and crime, and tearing down traditional values.

Polarization therefore remains, which limits US credibility and international effectiveness. Then, in addition to Trump – who suffered a defeat in the midterm elections – there is Trumpism, dominant in its various guises in the Republican Party.

Tellingly, Florida Gov. DeSandis, who is projected as Trump’s strongest challenger for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, owes much of his high popularity to his refusal to take serious action against the pandemic. Florida may have had—based on deaths per million residents—one of the worst performances among the states, but DeSandis came out personally victorious in a method reminiscent of Trump.

The head of the Republicans in Congress, Kevin McCarthy, who is expected to replace Nancy Pelosi as the representative of the Republican majority, sends similar messages with his behavior. In January 2021, McCarthy differentiated himself from Trump, whom he held responsible for the unrest that erupted over the alleged fraud. In a few weeks, however, she got along with him in the context of a stark realism.

McCarthy states that there must be limits and controls on economic and military aid to Ukraine, because in a period of high inflation there is no room for waste. He even promises to use the legislative framework on public spending and debt to force President Biden to abandon part of his ambitious economic and, above all, social policy.

Despite the fact that the mid-term elections in the US went incredibly well for the Democrats, the uncertainty expressed by the two political poles…

[390,819
1621,973,215,1305,70
post-11041","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-politics","category-usa","tag-november-us-elections","tag-politics","tag-us","tag-us-elections","tag-usa
["GET
