Taking office on September 6, then-Foreign Secretary Liz Truss decided to become a modern-day Thatcher, but only stayed 45 days in the Prime Minister’s residence at number 10 Downing Street.

When she took office, one of her first tasks was to implement a new economic model, with measures including the reduction of corporate tax. The plan had been drawn up over the summer, pending the outcome of the Conservative Party’s internal party processes to succeed the resigned Johnson, she and the then finance minister, Kwazi Kwarteng.

However, with the announcement of the plan on September 23, Tras found itself facing not only the markets, but also the party’s MPs, as a result of which it was forced to turn 180 degrees and withdraw the reduction of the corporate tax, a few days after Mr Kwarteng announces more tax cuts.

The prime minister’s front with the finance minister had become unstable and the minister was led to resign immediately after a meeting with the prime minister, returning from an IMF meeting in Washington. It was only 38 days since he had taken office.

In her resignation letter, she spoke of the prime minister’s vision, which she described as correct, although she had already backed down.

In a move that was clearly intra-party targeting, the prime minister named Jeremy Hunt, a political friend of her main rival in the intra-party process, Rishi Sunak, as her new finance minister.

But, apparently, the developments had begun to overtake her and the appointment of Hunt was not enough, as a result of which the policy change also followed in the matter of pensions.

Four days later, on the 43rd day of the Truss government, another close associate of Sunak’s, Grand Sapps, was in government to replace Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who was removed by the Prime Minister for breaching security conditions when sent a party MP an official document from her personal e-mail.

This was a draft written statement on immigration rules, an issue considered highly sensitive as it could have major implications for the budget responsibility ministry’s growth projections. Mrs. Truss is the fourth prime minister in a row to be forced to resign.

She succeeded Boris Johnson, who resigned after failing to respond convincingly to complaints about the way he carried out his duties. In 2019, Johnson succeeded Theresa May, who had failed to complete the deal with the EU. for Brexit.

Three years earlier, Mrs May had replaced David Cameron after his defeat in the Brexit referendum, which he had called in favor of the country remaining in the EU.

In total, that is, since Cameron beat his Labor rival Gordon Brown in the 2010 election, the Conservatives have spent 12 years in power having changed four prime ministers, none of whom have gone smoothly.

Concern about the speed with which political developments are produced in Europe was caused by the rapid reshuffles in two countries in which the…

[818,390
248,2547,3784,216
post-10306","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-europe","category-politics","tag-g-britain","tag-leadership","tag-political-uncertainty","tag-uk
["GET
